Hey guys, I was thinking of ordering a few batteries for my Reo. The ones I have now are 2200 mah AW 18650s, I dont have a charger for it either. So what batteries and charger do you use? The ones recommended in the Reo newb thread are only 1600 mah, and I have been seeing others up to 3000 mah. Has anyone experienced problems with these, or what do you recommend?

AW IMR 18650's are the recommended batts for 3.7v's because they can handle the high current demands that low resistance attys require. The AW protected batts are used with great success by many. The only bad thing that could happen is the protection circuit "could" be tripped due to the current being near the max allowed by the protected version. The ONLY other batts that are worth using for 3.7v imho are the "Redilast" protected batts. They are actually made from the same basic Panasonic cells that AW uses for their batts.

For 5v the NI-MH 4.8v 600mah batts are the only real choice. They require a special charger. They work awesome with 2Ω-3Ω attys and cartos.

For 6v 2x Lifepo4 3v-3.2v batts are the most common used. AW make lifepo4's as well that offer great performance too.

All can be found at various vendors. My personal vendor of choice is Randy at RTD Vapers. He's a REOnaut, knows what awesome customer service means, and what will work or not work with the reos. His prices are great too. As far as chargers, there are several that will charge the 3.7v batts. The best being the high dollar Pila's. A great charger that will efficiently charge all the 3.7v batts out, as well as the 3v lifepo4's (with a slide of the voltage selector switch) is the UltraFire WF-188.

Here's some links to the items mentioned above...

AW IMR 18650
4.8V NiMH 600mah Battery (This requires this charger listed next)
4.8V NiMH Battery Charger
AW LiFePO4 RCR 123
This is the charger that will charge all of the above except for the 5v batts...
Ultrafire WF-188 Lithium Battery Charger

As far as the "other" so called 3000mah batts from companies..They are all going to result in seriously less than optimal performance out of a Grand. Most are full of it, and simply "overstate" the actual specs...AW and Redilast DO NOT.:2cool:

Please be aware that the battery length is very important. The AW IMR 18650 1600mAh are the perfect fit for the Grand and Woodvil.

The REO's have a collapsible spring. That means that in case of a short they will collapse and the battery will no longer be in reach of the firing pin.

When longer than recommended batteries are used this safety function is disabled. The battery will still connect and might cause further damage to the REO.

So, in a nutshell, do not compress the spring with a long battery! It is important to check battery length before a purchase.

To be on the safe side, I only use the recommended batteries in all of my REO's.

Wow thanks guys, great information. I actually have a 5v battery and charger that came with my Reo (from the Classifieds) thats great. I'll have to order a few more to keep in rotation. I think you more than covered all that I needed, got my order placed for a few more 18650s, charger, and a few extra 5v batts. Hopefully I can now stick with my goal of not ordering anymore stuff this month, lol

so trustfire batteries are no good?

Some TrustFire batts are "OK", some are counterfeit, none are as good as AW. Truth is, a bad battery will give you inferior performance, and could potentially hurt you and damage your REO. Why risk an expensive mod and your own health on a cheap battery?

Exactly right! Would you put cheap crap tires on a brand new Ferrari, or a new Porche? I sure as heck wouldn't! You spent the money for a great mod, whats a few more $$ for high performance reliable batteries to ensure you get the most possible out of your new pv?

Speaking about the right batt for Reos, I've been reading a lot of talk about 4.2-4.4v vaping. Does anyone have an insight into the batt manufactures on what's on their drawing boards? Since I'm in the "Reo World" (sounds nice doesn't it?) of IMR 14500's and 18650's, which to me seem like the most popular, I wonder if the batt mfg's would make a (4.2-3.7=.05) a (4.9-.06=) 4.3v batt's or is the industry stuck on 3.7v because of it's popular voltage? I would guess the e-cig industry is already a billion dollar industry and it's only in it's infancy. Rob has a good head on his shoulders, maybe he can go public and sell stock in Reos Mods. That may get him enough capital to expand his business into the future, which takes a good head on your shoulders. A nitch business can make tons of bucks.

The Ultrafire 3000s were the battery that was first recomended for the Grand. I have 3 of them and have been using them since January of this year. They do compress the spring a lot. I change them out about 2 to 3 times a day as I prefer a hot vape.I've been pleased with mine so far although the spring being compressed so much is a concern to me. One of these days I'll spring for some IMRs. Then I might say, "Why didnt I do this months ago."

I use the AW black batts, and I have a few Trustfire 2400 mah batteries too. The Ultrafire 3000 mah's are complete and utter crap. They're too big to really fit the REO, underpowered, and the 3000mah that's written on them is a complete lie.
