What battery size/type should be used with larger 510 dual coil cartos?

I recently purchased a 2.5ml 510 dual coil ClearOmizer and a 510 Dual Coil 5ml Mega Cartomizer. The batteries I am currently using are little Joye 510 Automatic batteries. After looking at the two new cartomizers I'm not so sure my little Battery can handle it, so I thought I'd better ask before I try it and kill my battery! So, can I use the Joye 510 Automatic batteries with these cartos, or do I need a different battery? And if so, what kind of battery do I need? Thanks so much!

The 2.5ohm dual coils are meant for a high voltage mod - they are two 5 ohm coils to be used on 6 and 7v mods.

And any cartos below 2.5 ohms are not for slim batteries at all and can potential damage the slim batteries. They are for batteries 450mah+ which means the fat battery models like Ego, Kgo, Riva 510 or 510-threaded mods. Anything below 1.7ohms may be too stressful on some fat batteries and are best used on mods designed to handle the wattage.

The 2.5ml 510 dual coil ClearOmizer is supposed to be 2.7-2.8 ohms, and the 510 Dual Coil 5ml Mega Cartomizer is supposed to be 1.6 ohms. My batt is 180 mah. So does that mean that the one rated at 1.6 ohms is definitely a no go but the 2.7 ohms is ok, even though it's a dual coil? Or no dual coil on a 180 mah period? Would both of these work on an Ego?

No it can't be done safely. Batt too small.

No you cannot use a 2.5 ohm dual coil with any slim battery and not even with 3.7v mods or Ego

A 2.5 ohm DUAL COIL is TWO 5 ohm coils and is meant for high voltage mods that use 5 ohm cartos so that would be a 6v or 7v mod.

On slim 510 you should be using 2.5 to 3 ohm SINGLE coils.

Yeah I decided to scap the dual coils as a newbie mistake. I bought a kgo and some 1.7 ohm single coils that I love so far. Thanks so much for the info!

To be blunt, with dual coils you are better off with a bat in the 2,000mAh range, not the 200mAh range.
Some people really like the dual coil cartos, so they are a viable alternative ... just not on small bats.
It's also necessary to properly match the resistance to the voltage being used. A 2.5ohm DC is not the same as a 2.5ohm single coil.

How do you find out the safe range with dual coils? I've looked at the chart that shows for single coil and I understood the range for a 3.7 volt in that, but I'm not sure how to calculate for a dual coil?

The battery "sees" one coil regardless. If you run a dual 3ohm, the battery "sees" 1.5ohms. Or there abouts.

The difference between a 1.5ohm single coil and 1.5 dual coil is a trade of between vapor temp and vapor volume. The single coil is hotter (those 1.7's you are running on that Kgo rock don't they?), and the dual coil LR throw more vapor volume at a lower temp.
