Hello everyone,
I just ordered the topbox nano and it's my first mod that I have to put a battery in. And I'm very confused with all the different batteries and information on them. I bought the Lg h2 and I bought a Samsung 25r. Will those work? I also bought just a single 18650 battery charger, and I'm just not sure how all this works. vaping for 4 years and I have no clue about this battery crap. If I have a battery for it why do I have to charge the mod with a USB? I have done some research and watched videos but it really didn't answer all the questions I had. So if someone can please help me out!!! Thanks Maria
Also I have the ssocc Ni 200 for TC and then I have just the basic .5 for wattage. It says the nano is TC, so can I vape TC with the battery in it? Someone said it will blow up and I should only use wattage mode which makes no sense if it has the TC option. I think mods blow up because of the person not using it properly and I don't want to be that person lol. Alright I know I'm all over the place but I'm sure someone will understand what I'm asking

Most people recommend you don't use the mod to charge the batteries. Since you said you picked up an external charger, I would just use that. The built in charging on some mods can cause issues, so you can just avoid that all together. On the good side, if you are ever somewhere with your usb cable(I admit, I have them in my truck, my backpack, my laptop bag, pretty much everywhere) and a usb port and have the battery going flat on you, you can always use the built in charger in an emergency to get a small charge into the battery to hold you over until you can get to your other battery that is charged.

For your second question, the topbox nano does have temp control. You don't need to worry about blowing up. The mod has built in circuitry to protect against that. Don't listen to the person who told you to run the ni200 coil in wattage mode. You will want to use that one in TC mode, and then use the regular one in power mode.

For a 60w device the lg hb2 or Samsung 25r will be just fine. Though you will get more battery life out of the hb2 if that makes a difference to you. If you have an external charger I suggest using that over the usb. I have use the usb of my pico's only twice (weekend trips out of town when I wanted to pack less). The external chargers are better for the batteries long time.

A mod designed for temperature control will not blow up when in tc mode. You should ALWAYS use tc mode if you are using a ni or ti coil. Kanthal should always be used in wattage mode and stainless steel can be used with either.

Also make sure you keep a check on the wraps of your batteries if they are damaged either rewrap or toss them. Also always carry individual batteries in a case if you will have them in a pocket and/or purse. A damaged battery wrap or one comming in contact with metal can cause shorts which are the most likely cause of regulated mods "blowing up" imo.

Oh and thanks for responding so quickly, the information you gave me was very helpful.. The YouTube videos just show them putting it together and the buttons and I can figure all that out, I just couldn't find much on what I wanted to know

Ok thanks. Now the charger I bought for the batteries is just a cheap 18650 single battery charger from the vape super saver. That will work? I haven't received everything in the mail yet so I'm assuming the charger will let me know when the battery is charged, if not should I just charge it for like an hour or two?

Not sure if you are running the LG HG2(brown), HE2(red if I remember right), or HB2(green), but all of them are good batteries(for your application, the HG2 would be much better, as it would give you significantly more run time). The 25R is also a great battery.

Like I said before, the on-board usb charging is there, but it is typically safer to use a dedicated charger.

EDIT: With you saying you got a real cheap charger, I would say to wait until it gets to you to check it out. Some of the cheaper ones are made...well...cheap. If you want to invest in a high quality charger, something like the nitecore i2 or d2 would be good(i think the I2 can be had for something like 10 bucks on amazon). The D2 is a little fancier and gives you a nice display to see more info, but ultimately accomplishes the same task(it is 19 bucks on amazon). XTAR and the efest LUC are also considered to be pretty good chargers. If you want to use the cheapy charger you bought, I would recommend only charging the battery while you can keep an eye on it. Personally, I would save up the 10 bucks to get an i2 or 20 to get a D2 just for peace of mind.

I have an eleaf TC and a kanger subvod Mega TC so I have the ssocc Ni 200 coil, so I'm familiar with TC just not with using the battery in it. Like I said someone said I had to vape on wattage mode only because the batteries dont support TC which confused me because the nano is TC , so if I'm using a Ni coil and have on the TC setting, I thought I could vape on TC so he just didn't know what he was saying.

Ok I will just charge the batteries on the 18650 charger I bought for them. Do you know if the nano will take the same coils I use for my other Kangertech, the
Ssocc Ni .15and the Ssocc .5 and the Clapton?

I just did a quick bit of checking since I wasn't sure what coils it uses, but it looks like it should work fine with any of the SSOCC coils you mentioned.

howdy!

as mentioned - you are on the right track - those are both good batteries for that mod, external charger recommended (safer option)... nano will use same coils as subtank mini (or toptank mini, or subtank, or subtank plus) - only thing that i think from that coil 'family' that won't work in nano is the rba head (for building own coils)... Ni coil in TC mode will be fine or kanthal coil in wattage mode - neither is prone to 'blow up' (and you're right - mods blow up 99+% of time because of operator error/ misuse/ ignorance - and you seem to have done a good bit of your homework already :) )

have also been hearing some good feedback on the ceramic coil for that tank - personally, i like the claptons :) I tend to be a wattage mode vaper - have a lot of TC devices, but tend to vape in power/ wattage modes (to me, TC seems mostly to be a redundancy to remind you when your wick is dry... i just tend to keep juice in the tank... seems to solve that problem nicely)

for what it is worth, in regards to chargers, xtar makes a killer little single battery charger that is available in the $10 range (MC2?) and the suggested nitecore d2 is also excellent

i have an MC2 i keep in my computer bag as an emergency charger, lol - came with a little carry pouch and everything - all i needed was a wall wart to go with it and i picked up an anker 2 port (love those anker charger ports/ hubs - they use a smart charge technology to sense current need and work like champs)

@Maria S. If you want a 2 bay charger s speedy pointed out, you can find the nitecore model on clearance at Provape here Battery Charger for Electronic Cigarettes, Digital Dual Bay Charger for only $7. I have one and it works fine. I did just have to get a 4 cell charger as I have a mew mod that requires more batteries, but for you this 2 cell nitecore would work well.

They will be perfect. The LG and Samsung batteries are very good batteries. That is all i use.

The mod has a USB port because - think of it as having a battery charger inside of it. The mod companies have to build these mods to a budget, so it's always playing it safe to assume that a dedicated external charger will be safer and better for the battery health than a cheap, no-name on-board charging chip.

You could still use the USB charging occasionally, or in a pinch - say you're going out for a while, and you could charge one battery in your external charger and one in the mod.

I NEVER recommend charging s battery in a mod.

Sometimes batteries have problems during the recharge cycle.

Would much rather ruin a $14 charger than a $35-200 mod and forcing me back on the stinkies until i replace my mod.
