simple answers...

your battery choices are good
use the external charger
normally you dont use the usb charger on the mod ( only if you absolutely have to, no access to an external charger or extra battery)
use tc for Ni wire and watt mode for kanthal

howdy!

as mentioned - you are on the right track - those are both good batteries for that mod, external charger recommended (safer option)... nano will use same coils as subtank mini (or toptank mini, or subtank, or subtank plus) - only thing that i think from that coil 'family' that won't work in nano is the rba head (for building own coils)... Ni coil in TC mode will be fine or kanthal coil in wattage mode - neither is prone to 'blow up' (and you're right - mods blow up 99+% of time because of operator error/ misuse/ ignorance - and you seem to have done a good bit of your homework already )
