I have no experience with the K box. I think the price dropped a little when the Kanger Subbox (50W)came out. I love the Subtank Mini (comes with the Subbox) and use the 1.2 ohm coils. The Subtank Mini also has a rebuild deck. The Subbox looks like a nice starter (.5 and 1.2 ohm coils plus rebuild deck), but you'd also need separate batteries and a separate battery charger.

The 40 watt Kbox is alright. No led read out and 7 settings for watts.
If you don't mind changing out batteries, it works Ok.
For the the same price as the Kbox / Batteries & Charger you might look at the eleaf / iStick 50 watt. The battery is installed, reads ohms, switches from voltage to watt settings & counts the drag time in seconds. Can be found at Fasttech from $32.00 to $48.00.

I wouldn't choose a Kbox. Not enough flexibility at low power. (13w vs 20w).

I guess if the higher settings work for you, it's cheap and fairly cheerful. Too many broken ones already in the UK though. Not in the same reliability league as Innokin. If I was shopping, I'd try to get the extra money for Innokin IV or Aspire ESP. But I'm not shopping....

(well, maybe a Subox).... :)

Like the title says, what can you do on the K box, and what is it good for? What have you used on it? am looking for something cheap to get into vaping and would like something that can cover a spectrum of styles ie RDA, RBA etc.
I have a few kboxes. They're really nice, solid, simple mods. I run my subtanks and my rda on it pretty much all day. They can be had for very cheap, close to 18 or 20 bucks. It's not great for lower watts, mostly because of the big jumps at low levels.

With a little effort you can teach them to do tricks like lay, sit, beg and shake.

Kbox is solid, built like a tank and for the price it is hard to beat. 8-40 watts, well built threading on the 510 connection and a removable battery. The negatives are that it steps up the wattage in set increments so for example you could do 8 or 13 watts but not 9,10,11 or 12. It doesn't have a digital display and I've heard some people have had trouble with the threads on the battery cover stripping after a few months.

It can handle most tanks (anything that fires at 40 W or below), It works well with RDA's as long as you build in an ohm range that works within the wattage limits. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a good starter on a tight budget or as a backup to a more powerful device. If you aren't on a tight budget I'd recommend other things though.

I bought 2 for $17 something each from Vapor Beast. I tried both to make sure they work then put them away for backups. They work well with my Nautilus mini at 13 watts.

I like the way they feel in my hand and the fact that they will subohm. The removable battery is a plus or minus depending on what the individual vaper likes.

I think the KBox with a Kanger Sub Tank would make a good combo. I don't own a Sub Tank yet though.

I went through my second Kbox in 4 months. I love the simplicity of the Kbox with the subtank mini. My problem is that the insulator on the 510 pin keeps tearing and shorting out. The pin is not spring loaded it is more of a floating pin. There is the threaded section, the insulator and the pin with a piece of foam under it to give the impression that it is spring loaded. I can repair the insulator using an insulator off and evod coil but it eventually tears just like the original. I am in the process of trying to fit a true spring loaded 510 connector to it. But to date I have not had the time to sort out all the details.

I've got a couple of these little 17 dollar honies.

Simple little thing. No ohm testing or the like.

Screw in a battery, set to 30w and top with an Orchid. Perfect vape for 27 bucks. oop, two 25r's so 37 bucks plus charger if you don't have one.

I bought them as spares but gotta say I been using them alot.

+1 to all the Thumbs Up above.
Simple, Resilient, Cheap comparatively, replaceable Battery, Performs well even with RDAs, Great little Outside/Yard Work Knock-Around Device or Bedside Vape. Actually pretty impressed with the little Devil.
Mated to a Subtank Mini using the .5 OCC Coil set to 25W (30 on thicker Juices) it is really pretty satisfying.
Like it much more than I thought I would when chose it to replace an old CoolFire 1 and MegaTank Rig I used forever as my Outside Vaper.
Thinking about a SubBox Starter now.

Wasn't aware of the Top Pin Isolator Issue outed in earlier Post. Be watching for that.
So far no issues with the floating Pin Connector.

If you can swing the $55, go with the SubBox Starter Kit. Comes with all you need except a Charger and Juice. An overall great Device and awesome Value for the buck which should do all you need or want now and well into your Vaping Future.

*Update... The Price for the Sub Box/Sub Tank Mini Starter Kit is now $79.99
Supposedly, Kanger has set a minimum Retail Price and holding contracted Retailers to that set Price. However, it is still a great Value IMO. The Sub Box has an OLED Screen and goes from 7W to 50W in .1 increments and not just 40W at preset levels as the K Box does. Also has a mini-USB Charger built in and offers Pass-through Operation. Supports down to .3 ohm builds as well.
Given all that,,, skip the K Box and get the Sub Box. A No-Brainer.
I know this as I just purchased one from Mt Baker. They have both the Black and the White Kits in stock and throw in a 15ml Bottle of their Juice of your choice to sweeten the Deal.

I like mine, got it from Vapor Beast as well for $20 shipped when my iStick 50w stopped working. Subbox was not out yet at the time.

I have used mine with:

RDA:

Baal (favorite), Velocity, Tobh 2.0, Magma, Freakshow

RBA:

Kayfun v4, Orchid v2

Having a screen is overrated to me as I use an ohm meter to check my builds and usually set it to 30 or 35 watts. That said if all you were going to use is that one Kbox and nothing else you might as well get the Subbox and save the $5-10 on a meter. I already had one and lots of other mods I use.

Samsung 25R can be had for less than $6 each, a 2 bay Nitecore charger for about $15.

I would probably buy the Kbox again because that is what works for my situation, but starting from scratch the Subbox is a pretty good value in my opinion.
