Is all that is required that you have a master switch, a 5v regulator and protected batteries?

Do plastic box mods need vent holes? Are the switches in the boxes we get good enough for the voltage we use?

What should the switches and buttons that we use be rated?

I'm currently making someone a 5V mod and I don't want to have to worry about them getting hurt.

What do you guys think?

Use a regulator that has an external shutdown , this will make the switch capacity ( current ) very low you can use almost anything, also get a regulator that has short circuit protection and over heating protection.

Doing this will provide LOTS of protection from shorts , held on switches etc. If you use the new ECF guidelines than put a MASTER switch in it ( just to be extra safe ) that switch should be at least 3 amps ( with a current limited reg. the current will be held to a the max rating , 3 amps is a good # )
