Hi all, new member, former 25 year smoker with a pack and a half per day habit. Quit 8 days ago
after purchasing an ego t2 kit and getting used to it.

Aside from food tasting better, and my sense of smell coming back, one major thing I noticed is my heart rate.
I used to average between 80-88 beats per min, now im seeing 70-72 bpm!!?? I know this is said to be average
but mid 80's is where mine was for years.

Anybody else seeing a change like this? I am making an appointment with my doctor to discuss this, but figured
i'd see if any other folks on here experienced similar?

Im loving the vape and cant even smoke a real cig now. Im so glad I got 'on the wagon' :)

Im on day 4 and I too have noticed my heart rate go down. I used to average about 100 bpm (mind you I have always had a fast heart rate even as a kid) now its around the 80 mark. I thought it was just me that was having the heart rate go down but Im glad Im not the only one now.

I was and still partially am concerned, though I am not having shortness of breath or fatigue, so im thinking
its the good kind of of bpm decrease... Im not an active guy typically and am 2 years away from the big 40 bday
was getting really worried about my heart health and smoking.

I guess if we are here on this forum we are all on a good path forward

-----

Mostly improved smell, fortunatly I didnt have any noticeable lung or heart issues yet ... have to say I wish my sense of taste would improve but not super happy about the sense of smell so many things and people stink lol

LOL, I was just mentioning to my wife about the sense of smell... Noticed even more during a visit to the bathroom. Look on the bright side, at least we know when it is us that stinks.. cant be all that bad

Blood pressure dropped 20 points...

I will get mine checked, but have noticed the disappearance of my heart pounding in my ears when I get up from a seated position and go upstairs. Almost as if a reset switch was hit on my body..

All I can think is how could I be so stupid for all those years? Im just counting my blessings it didnt take a
life altering experience putting some sense in my head to quit. All it took was a damn ecig! Wish they were
available a lot sooner in my life. I will never smoke another death stick again.

Voice lighter, higher. Lost graveliness. No longer mistaken for a "Sir" over the phone. Can take a deep breath without coughing. Can laugh full on without coughing. Mood is happier, better, lighter. Oxygen in the blood cells rather than carbon monoxcide?

Sleep longer, deeper. After 53 yrs of smoking the ol' taste buds are coming back slowly but surely......OMG bacon! I'm smelling smells I'd forgot about. Whew! Careful with that! Stuffy nose gone. No sinus problems. More energy, stamina. Don't have to stop midway up the stairs any more.

No stains on fingers and no yellow bangs in white hair. Teeth are whiter, feel cleaner longer. No cotton mouth in morning 'cause sleep with mouth closed now. No snoring!

Husband's sinus problems have lessen as well as his headaches......Not as much snoring as well......and he can vibrate the windows!

Have not had any major health problems from smoking so long which I attribute to heavily playing tennis most of my adult life and not inhaling deeply; however, the effects of smoking were catching up with me these last 10 yrs. Even tho I was using ultra lights, I was smoking 2-3 PAD and had stopped the tennis due to joint problems.

My entire extended family, both sides, smoked. Most are now long gone. How I wish these wonderful vaping products were around 40 years ago! I just know that my grandfathers, uncles and dad, all who were curious tinkerers, would have picked up vaping in a snap!

Smoking increases the amount of carbon monoxide in your system, which in turn decreases the amount of available oxygen capacity your hemoglobin can carry. With the decrease of CO and increase of O, the volume of blood that needs to be supplied to the body is decreased a tad due to the increased oxygen levels. But, then again, nicotine does have a tendancy to increase heart rate too.
During my years of being a scuba instructor, I wouldnt smoke my morning ciggies before the water sessions. By doing that, my hemoglobin was able to carry more oxygen ( not all locked up with CO) and my airtank would last 20-30% longer than it normally would as when I would have had several ciggies before diving.

I'm 57, have had two heart attacks (minor ones) have high blood pressure, my cholesterol was never real high, but with the history of my heart my Dr. has me on meds for that as well. Since starting to vape, I have lost 32 lbs, sense of taste and smell are better, BP is way down, cholesterol is down almost to the point of Dr. taking me off the meds. The sense of taste in the best thing, that has been the cause of all the other things coming down. I like almost anything edible, used to be a sous chef, change of careers at 300 lbs, got my weight down but roller coastered it all my life. now I am enjoying things that aren't deep fried or encased in breading. I had no idea how good shrimp, crab, chicken, other fish and things that are good for me really taste simply done without tons of fat or breading. The only down fall is that hot things seem a little hotter. still love em, but suffer a little more when I eat them now. Generally feel younger in personal ways. The wife and I are both doing better and a lot happier.

I've only been quit now since March 29th, 2014. The only real noticeable difference I've had is my sense of smell. Whilst at work if I go outside, very often I can tell when somebody is having a cigarette, as I can smell it from the wind carrying it. I'm 27 (almost in a few days so better go ahead and get used to saying it) have smoked for around 13-14 years. I really have not noticed any change in my sense of taste, some flavors in some of the juices I have are a bit difficult to pick up for me. I think in due time everything will return to normal. Also, the smell of cigarettes is near sickening to me now... I have a buddy who used to work with me who still smokes (he's in the process of converting). Anytime I sit in his truck while he smokes it makes my head spin! Did anybody else have this after they had quit?

Been off analogs for 13 days. Blood pressure is down to 121/79, I can smell, I taste everything, I can breathe in the mornings without having to dig the gold out of my nose, I don't cough up 2lbs of chunky phlem in the shower anymore, I don't smell like an ashtray after breaks at work and just the smell of analogs make me gag. All in all, I would say this was a great move for me.

My teeth feel cleaner lol. I work midnight shift so used to do a lot of coffee and a lot of smoking and when is get home in the morning my teeth would feel pretty scuzzy. I still do lots of coffee, but with chain vaping all night my mouth feels a lot cleaner when I get home.

I work graveyards in a Hotel. I know what you mean about the smoking all night thing. Now I just chain vape. :D

I've given up since mid November 2013 and within a couple of days i noticed a significant difference in taste and needed to add less salt and pepper to meals. After about a week i noticed the cigarette smell on others after they had been out for a smoke and that horrible feeling on my teeth disappeared. For the first month i had night sweats and would wake up wanting nicotine, quick vape back to sleep, alls good again. Now nearly 5 months later i have more energy, sleep better and don't have the dreaded morning coughs - what used to annoy me the most :)

Definite improvement in resting heart rate.

Sense of taste is coming back nicely - everything is so VIVID. Can't think of a more descriptive term before my second cup of coffee.

I don't stink, so my wife therefore kisses and hugs me more. We sleep closer together. That alone will keep me off the analogs.

My sense of smell - I have found I notice smoky and 'industrial' smells more readily now. It caught me off guard; exhaust, factories, name it. In the car when it hits me I still reflexively look at my APV, thinking the battery is shorting because it's so strong it HAS to be in the car with me....only to find out it's a bus stopped at the same red light.
