Hi All,

I'm ready to take the plunge and move away from the cigalike I've been using. I started with Blu, got incredibly frustrated with it, and then switched to Green Smoke which I like a lot, but the cartridges are getting expensive. I was thinking if I went with some kind of eGo battery and bought my own juice, I'd save some money; but I'm clueless as to where to start.

I know I need a battery, and a tank, but after that I'm not sure. Any help of the items I need and any brands you'd recommend would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you!

I would go with a 1300mah spinner or the mvp2. Both are VV and mvp has vw and an ohm meter. Will let you get your feet wet trying the different voltages. It helps to understand the resistances of your toppers better when you have the ohm checker. If you like an airy draw a protank 2/3 with glass tank would be a good bottom coil clearo.

Ego twist 1000 mah, Protank 2, charger and wall wort. You are going to need backups for the tank and battery.
Checkout a local vape shop and find a couple of juices you like, and nic level you need. Have them show you how fill/prime, replace atomizers, clean the tank. If your local shop is not helpful, go elsewhere.

For the price of an ego, the MVP would be a great step up into regulated mods. Although I did see an ego 15 watt capable bat the other day here, and thought that would be a great option too. All depends on your preference of form factor.

If I had to do it all over again with where the tech is today, I'd jump right in to a DNA30 mod. Authentic if you could find one, a clone if you could find that. Max out the capabilities of a 30 and you be doing some serious damn fine vape.

It started wit V2's e-cig>ego + PT>Provari>rba's + DIY J>mechs>DNA + high amp regulated. Vape is a progressive disorder hobby. The more you vape, the higher the odds one obtains a collection. Choose wisely and it will remain in your daily rotation, choose wrong and you'll end up PIF'ing it away. lol. Least that's been my personal experience..

Depends on where the vape trail leads..

Mt. Baker Vapor has the Kanger Evod kit. Comes with 2 batteries, 2 Evod tanks, 5 extra heads, charger, and a bottle of eliquid of your choice. My daughter and I recently switched from cigalikes to Evods, and really like them. I would also recommend getting a glass tank, such as the Pro Tank 2 Mini, for use with tank cracker eliquids.

I started with an Innokin VV v3 and replaced the tank with a Kanger pro tank II. You can get the kit which includes 5 clearomizers and the Kanger Tank for probably around $65-75 total. I take probably about 50 hits a day so charge my battery about once every other week. The Kanger tank can be a pain in the ... sometimes because of leaking problems, but if you get it right it will produce some nice clouds and flavor!

I've been vaping for almost a month now. I bought a double eGo starter kit from my local vape shop for about $50. It came with 2 1100 ohm batteries, 2 iClear 16 clearomizers, a battery charger, all in an eGo case. Whatever you do, make sure you get at least two or more of everything. Backup for you backups. And you'll need juice, of course. Good luck to you!

Welcome!!!

You might look at 101Vape. They have the iTaste VV3 for < $30. It's a light-weight, variable voltage/variable wattage mod. I use EVOD tanks for which you can replace the coils when they burn out or start to taste funny. Mt. Baker has great prices on juice, and with a $15 order, they send you a free bottle of juice. Juice will probably be the most difficult selection. What kinds of flavors do you like? (I smoked menthols, but I typically don't pick tobacco/menthol tobacco flavored juices. I like dessert and fruit flavors.) How much where you smoking previously? You need to think about the nicotine level in the juices. Then, there's the ratio of PV (propylene glycol) and VG (vegetable glycerin). PV is a thinner liquid which is the flavor and nicotine carrier (just like what gets atomized in an inhaler). It also contributes to the "throat hit" (which I personally don't care for.) The VG component helps facilitate the depth of the vapor. If you start with a 50/50 mix, you can tweak from there. I'm usually 50/50 or 60pg/40vg. I don't need to blow cumulonimbus-sized clouds, but I like some depth because it's fun for me.

Back to the device - based on the coil inside the tank (various resistance ratings, measured in Ohms), the combination of the resistance and the voltage output that you set for the device, you derive how "warm" the vape can be. I like the VV/VW so I can set the variable WATTAGE to a nominal level. Then, I don't have to worry so much about what resistance I have in my coil - the device adjusts automatically for me. I like 2.2ohms on my coils, but I have a few 2.5 and 1.8 coils. That's why I throw the iTazte VV3 as a device choice. The VV3 uses eGo or 510 threaded attachments (tanks or pre-filled cartridges) which are quite popular sizes from all I've come across so far. The other reason I like the VV3 is that it's a pass-through, which means you can charge it while you're using it (USB cable with a micro-USB connector on one end.

I have the VV3, as well as a Vision Spinner 1300 (same philosophy as the eGo Twist, I believe) and an iTazte MVP2. The MVP2 is heavier, and bulkier, but it has about 2-3 times the battery life as the VV3 or the Spinner.

If you have a vape shop near you, see if they have a "tasting bar" That will give you an idea of some of the flavor combinations. Taste is all a personal preference - what one person loves, another will abhor. Same with nicotine level and PG/VG ratio. Try smaller bottles, if you can, until you start dialing in on what you like. And, if it's fresh-made, it might taste like a filthy ashtray today, but in a few days or so, it becomes your favorite flavor (and vice versa)

Part of my journey has been to quit smoking real cigarettes. Now, this has become a minor hobby (flavor chasing). There's SOOOOOOO much out here. Just find what makes YOU happy and allows you to achieve YOUR goal.

:vapor: :vapor: :vapor:

There are TONS of threads and videos on ECF with lots of great advice.

It depends on what you think you'll value more. A spinner type, variable volt ego lets you adjust power with a very easy to use dial on the bottom. If you can see yourself wanting to explore more options for vaping pretty early on though, I'd recommend an iTaste VVv3. Not only will this allow you to adjust the voltage, you'll also be able to select watts, which many prefer. Voltage is like driving a stick shift. You need to adjust it depending on the resistance of the atomizer you are using (ohms of the heating element). The higher the ohms, the higher the voltage to get a hit you like. Variable watts also allows you to adjust voltage, but it's like driving an automatic car. Once you select the watt setting you like, the device can then adjust itself to the proper voltage, depending on the ohms. It'll automatically go higher for higher ohms and lower for lower ohms. So, while an iTaste VVv3 may seem more complicated to use at first glance, in the end it'll be easier, with less button pushed over all to get a vape you like. It'll also check the ohms of any topper you are using, as they are sometimes not the exact same number as advertised. You can find the iTaste VV v3 express kit, without a topper, for $25. I do not personally like the iClear 16 toppers that come with the full kit as they are plastic.

For a topper, I highly recommend you get a glass clearomizer, or tank. Some liquids, namely citrus and cinnamon flavors, can react with and break down plastic. With a glass tank you never have to worry about this. The most hassle free clearomizers I've tried are the Mini Protank II. They give less gurgling issues then larger bottom coil (heating element that consists of wire that coils around wicking material) clearos and the coils are very easy to find to replace, inexpensive, and easy to clean. You can find dozens of YouTube videos on cleaning them. Next up would be the Aspire BDC ETS. This is a glass dual coil clearomizer. Produces better flavor and vapor in my opinion, but the coils are slightly more expensive and harder to clean. Both of these tanks will look great on either a variable volt ego or Evod, or the iTaste VVv3.

I have two recommendations.

Right away, get a Provari, a Vamo, Evic, and Sigelei Legend or Zmax. Get a couple of Aspire Nautilus, a Protank 2 or 3, a Kayfun, and two good chargers. I have Nitecores. Also get a variety of juice. Get the 30ml or more. They last longer. Go for at least four flavours. Oh, also get a couple of Ego batteries and a few CE4's. Now you have a good variety of mods and tanks. Now you have so much invested that it is too costly to go back to cigarettes without feeling foolish.

Or.

Get two Ego batteries, two CE4's, and an Ego charger. Get a bottle or two of juice. The 10ml are a good choice in case you don't like it. Minimal investment yet enough to get you off the cigarettes. These things all work very well.

Somewhere out there
The Kanger Evod kit is a good starter Kanger Evod Starter Kit

Next step up would be the itaste VV/VW 3 Innokin iTaste VV (V3) Express kit - 101 Vape. That will work nicely with mini protanks(glass) or iclear 16 atomizers.

Whatever you get, make sure you have 2 or more of everything, atomizers/tanks, batteries, chargers, you don't want to be left without a vape if something fails.
