LiOn batteries don't really have a memory effect. They last about 2 years max, no matter how you use them really.

You may be able to *slightly* increase their longevity by charging them before they totally die, and using them occasionally. But the difference is slight.

Also, if you were, for example, just using the same one or two batteries constantly, this may slightly reduce their longevity.

Earth Ending Ray is an FDA approved use for these types of batteries

MistressNomad,if the batteries can last 2 years,they why do most people only get a few months out of them? I'm all about preserving my batteries as long as possible

2 years is the natural life span of LiOn assuming nothing else goes wrong.

But stuff can and does go wrong.

Shorts, broken buttons, abuse, people mistaking batteries with clogged threads for being dead, bad batteries, etc.
