I use drill bits, or a screwdriver that came with a glasses repair kit, which is slightly smaller than a 1/16 drill bit. A cheap drill set is cheap, you don't need quality. Or just buy the smaller ones separately, I picked 2 1/16 drill bits for like $2 at wallyworld after I broke 2 trying drill the airholes in an igo-w.

Go to the Dollar Tree store and get a little screwdriver set....use the smallest one to wrap on. Or get a little glasses repair kit and use the screwdriver. Some people even use round toothpicks. No need to spend much money. Best Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - MyFreedomSmokes.com sells syringe needles....I think 16 gauge is what you need.

recently i use those really small allen wrench sizes were really good from 3mm going down to 0.5mm in 0.5 increments... so it's
0.5 - 1 - 1.5 - 2 - 2.5 - 3 mm's really nice i can do all kinds of experiment builds it cost me $1.50 in a local "Daiso" store... i saw some in a dollar store once but i liked the latter better coz of the size option.... i'm sure they will have those also in electronic/computer shops but for more bucks...

I haven't gotten around to pestering DZ for a jig yet but I will one of these days.

You should. I was also using a c-clamp and bit. I was amazed at how much easier it is it get a nice tight coil on DZ jig than the clamp and bit, you wouldn't think there'd be much difference.

Those DZ jigs look very nice! Figured I would never get my hands on one so I made a McGyver model! 4" piece of 2x4, put a screw on one end and screwed almost all the way into the wood leaving a small gap to wedge one end of wire, drilled a 1/16" inch hole at the other end of the wood block and left the drill bit in the wood. Works the same way as the DZ just not as fancy! :)

Where are all these DZ jigs coming from??
DZ do you have a secret club???? :)

I am going to "McGyver" another jig using a smaller post than my current 1/16 bit. I have found myself using xc132 wicking as well as cotton so I am looking to do a small enough post so I can just slide the XC on the post without stretching the inside then just wrap the coil around the post AND xc.

I spoke with DZ prior to ordering my jig. Since I was using XC-132, I ordered a 5/64 mandrel with mine. The XC slips right in once the coil is built and installed on the RM. Note that I build the coil, pre-burn it, compress it, and position it prior to putting my XC-132 inside of the coil.
