Strange that it never occurred to me to not smoke in the house. But being as I was a heavy 1 to 4 packs a day smoker, I'd have to of spent most of my time out on the patio,

.
We used to both smoke in our cars, rather heavily at times. Then we got the new Honda truck back in 2007 and I said "NO smoking in the truck", I did this because we went out somewhere in the other car and the ashtray was full of old cig butts and it stunk so badly in there. So, for the past 8 years that we've had the truck I think we've both only ever snuck a smoke in it twice for each of us so there is absolutely no stink in the truck. The BMW on the other had was so disgustingly stinky (and had some mechanical issues) so when we moved we simply donated it off as there was no way that stink was coming out of that car, I'm sure if I tried to wash the interior the water would have run yellow from the cigs as we smoked just as heavily in the car as we did in the house.
Oh and I had to dig out some tax forms the other day from the shed in the back 40 and I opened up the large rubber box and sure enough the stink of stale cigarettes hit me but good as all the paperwork in there had been in our home office for years and years just sitting on shelves and that's where I did the majority of my daily smoking since I was working in front of my computer for 8 to 21 hours a day, puffing away like a chimney the whole time. So I started the task of putting all the paperwork through the copy machine and threw away the originals, although I had to go buy a new ream of paper as I haven't copied anything on the copy machine since moving to the new house so that paper that was in it stunk as bad as the originals.
Just amazes me how long the stink will stick around, even if the items are in the open air.
