What Do You Think of Refilling Cartomizers With the Rubber Cap (like Dr. Vapor)

Filling with your own liquid is the way to go - not only cheaper, but you get a bigger selection of flavors. Are you referring to the condom method for refilling? I've never tried it myself; only dripped or used a syringe to refill and at that I don't use cartos that often. There'll be some experimenting until you find what works best for you.

I always use the condom (carto covers) method to fill cartos when I use the kind with filler material inside. You saw in the video how to do it, right? You just push the carto into the condom VERY slowly so the juice doesn't come out the top and down into the air hole and flood the atomizer. Then top it off by dripping from the top. It's really easy. If you do flood it all you have to do is blow on the mouthpiece end into a paper towel and you are good to go.

I remove the mouthpiece, hold at a 45 degree angle, and drip into the top. Let it settle and keep adding until it looks slushy on top after 20 minutes. I use an ammo holder to keep them upright plus they fit in it with the condoms on very nicely.

Another way is to remove the mouthpiece, insert a round toothpick into the airhole until it's snug (don't force it) and just keep adding to it until it doesn' absorb anymore juice. A new 1ml carto will hold about 20-25 drops on the first fill. After that, just top off with about 15, give or take, drops to refill.

I prefer this method as well. Seems like a waste of time to pour the juice into a condom (cap) then fiddle with pushing the carto into that, wiping it off etc. Pouring directly into the carto seems about the same as pouring into a condom cap so why not just do that?

Tons of people do love the condom method though. I just never really got it.

20 minutes? I'm glad I just stumbled onto this thread. I just got my first cartos. I watched a video on filling them, and saw that it should hold 20 or so drops. Added 20 fairly slowly (at least it seemed slow to me), took a hit, and it tasted terrible. Looked inside it, and it was pretty dry. Double checked my order info... oops, they're MEGA cartos!
I slowly added another 20 drops and got good hits. It almost seems like I could add even more. So, I'm really happy that I saw this thread... from now on I'll take a good, long time to fill these things. How many drops should I expect to get into a new mega?

kinda depends on which model and how much fluid.
KR808D-1 holds ~.9ml and is = to about 18 drops
510 holds ~1.2ml and is about 20-22 drops. (drop sizes vary with viscosity).

You don't want to overflow em or you will need to blow em out and the cartomizers are tempremental to get fired off when flooded.
Condom method to me is messy, and I drip fill (on a angle) along the sides. Try not getting fluid down the center tube (if carto has one). Condom method leaves residue on the battery connections. It can tend to clog things , like the KR808D-1 vent holes, and really it isn't good for the connection over time.

If its a 510 carto(only ones I use)I like using a syringe, I stick in down the side till it hits the bottom. Then tilt the carto battery side up just slightly, so as the juice fills the material it rolls back toward the mouth piece side, and rotate it a little while your filling it. Then give it quick blow out from the battery end into a paper towel. Takes about 15 secs and you can vape it immediately and waste little to no juice at all. If there is any left in the syringe just put it back into the bottle. If its boge LR cartos its super easy I like the filler in those they absorb really nice.

I hate to admit but I refill my 510 XL LR cartos about 15 times then put them in my coffee carafe and brew hot water on them and swish them about and let them dry out. It is a 75% survival rate but they come clean and taste like new. Only when they lose their ability to vape well will I throw them out.. and yes the scrap yard will recycle them but wont pay me, but oh well... go green and vape hard!!! richie

I think you are referring to what is called the "condom method" in which you put juice in a cartomizer end cap and push the cartomizer down on the liquid. I used that refill method for a while, but found it messy and a bit wasteful. Someone directed me to a Dr. Vapor video that showed how to remove the (usually) white end piece (and small inner O ring) from a cartomizer and refill by dripping. I find that works much better.

I don't really get the point of the condom method. The filling in the carto doesn't come to the tip, there's about 1/4" before you get to the filling so it's not like pressure is forcing juice into the carto. I did this when I started but I spent more time cleaning up the juice from the outside of the carto then I did dripping it in. The whole thing takes less than a minute anyway. Unless you're filling mass quantities of cartos at one time, I just drip it in.

No I do not use the condom method. I use soft-cap cartos and take out the soft cap and fill by dripping juice into the stuffing. Then since I can see inside I clean it up well. One former proponent of the carto condom method later decided it shortened the life of cartos. But I just don't use it because it's messier and I like to see what I am doing. People who buy ripoff rebrander or wholesaler cartos with glued on caps have little choice. I buy soft-caps to use the soft cap.

I don't get these comments about the condom method being messy. I've been doing it this way for all my cartos without any mess. Anyway you fill you are still going to have to clean the treads with a paper towel so as not to get juice in the battery connection. If I have any juice remaining in the condom when carto is full then I just pour it back into the juice bottle. No mess and not fuss. It's simple and you can be sure that the bottom of the carto is saturated. Using a syringe is a pain and usually leaks juice out the bottom before the carto is full. So what's the problem?
