I have an EGO battery on order from Health Cabin. (should be here in a month or two lol)

I was planning to use it with my 510 attys and cartos. But then I saw the mega cartos on a suppliers site. I didn't see a review thread for these in this section. So what do those of you that have used them think? I'd like to see some opinions about them before I put in an order for some.

Also, what's the best place to get them for a decent price. Preferably in the US so I don't have to wait so long for shipping.

Thanks all. :)

I did like the mega atties for my ego battery. However, now I like the LR mega attie better. I know, I know it will make my battery die sooner. I just ordered the tanks for the ego/tornado battery from totally wicked. They are having a 20% off sale this month. Coupon code ny2011 in case you want to browse. Otherwise, Good prophet is having a mini-sale right now. I have to say that GP LR mega attie was better than the TW's.

Thanks for the info Sdh. But I was not asking about the mega attys. I'm talking about the mega cartomizers, like these

Ego Cartomizer - $4.50 : DFWvapor.com, The Best US E-Liquid Made!

$4.50 seems like a lot for something disposable that they say gets weaker after a few uses. I'm currently using the CE2 cartomizers on my 510s. Some have been used daily for more than 2 months now. I know that the EGO megas are plastic, but I was hoping they could be cleaned and used for a good long time, like the CE2s

don't want to be too much of a wet blanket, but i've tried joye 510 cartos, both the regular ones and the mega cartos for the eGo and i don't like either, both types had a high failure rate (1 or more per box of 5 DOA) and the ones that worked tasted like burnt plastic no matter how i babied them. i REALLY wanted to like them, because i started out as a big fan of the whistle tip cart/atty combo, i prefer the way it feels, and the mega cartos DO look cool "made for" the eGo/Riva big batt, but performance did not meet up to my expectations. i'm using 2 Ω Boge cartos on my Riva and eGo batts and lovin' it. use them w/o the cone, or peel off the black sticker on the cartos to get them back down to standard 510 diameter and they work great with the cone. they are short, so the little bit of silver sticking out past the cone is not really a style show stopper.

I use them and get them at Liberty Flights:

They're $11.99 for a box of 5 after the 20% discount (click the box on the upper left)

Electronic Cigarette - Cartomizers - Joye eGo Cartomizer

They're okay. When they're working well, they work WELL! I haven't gotten any DOA yet. I do find that after a day of heavy vaping they fade a bit. But I've cleaned them and reused them and so far, so good.

So sorry. I seen my mistake. Yes I have used them. I have a ton of them. They are okay. Not worth the hassle of refill at times. Also they do not last long. 4 days top. Very weak throat hit and light vapor. It may vary with different liquids though. I have some for emergencies only.

I did like them at one time. My taste changed for a more potent throat hit and increase for more flavor. I tried cleaning them. It did not work for me. I am no expert though.

I got a couple from Good Prophets. I like'em. Initial strong throat hit, but fades after a few drags. The TH doesn't get bad, but it gets weaker. They last a good while. Produce more vapor than a standard carto. After injecting them, I stand them beg end down, in case of leakage. Once any liquid leaks out, they won't leak again until the next time they're filled. Or, that's been my experience.

Thanks everyone. :)

What I'm hoping for is consistent taste. TH and cloud production take a backseat to that. The biggest issue with the CE2s is that the same juice can taste completely different from one carto to another.

I decided to get a 5-pack, went to Liberty Flights. Price was good with the 20% discount they have going now. Ego prices were great, so I grabbed one of them as well. I'll report my thoughts when I get the stuff.

A little off topic: From the tracking information it looks like my shipment from Health Cabin was sent back to China and they have resent the package again. I'm guessing the FDA has something to do with it. There's a thread in the general forum about them ... with imports of e-cig stuff from China. I've found that US suppliers are out of many items lately, could be FDA related as well. It might be a good time to stock-up on stuff while you can. Seems like the FDA is throwing a childish hissy-fit since they lost in court. I'm glad I ordered an EGO from LF as well.

Vape on!

I purchased 5 of these from Health Cabin a while back. I use them very seldom. I have only filled one and used it for a full fill. The e-liquid I used was alien vision and I got great vapor and lasted a good long time, no throat hit at all. Could be the juice though. On the second fill and about 3 hours later-nothing. It died. It was perfect for air travel though, I am a dripper at heart and it was better than dealing with regular cartomizers. Once filled (a pain to do) you are good for a lot longer than a basic carto.
Have filled another and it doesn't fit on the ego properly. I have screwed it in and off 10 times or more and I can't get it on the threads to line up properly. I have set it to the side for later.
I don't think I'll be ordering more. I'll use the remaining 3 for emergencies only.

I spent a little time reading some reviews on supplier websites this morning. The reviews are mostly good, but some say that they are great at first then the enthusiasm wears off when they don't last very long or have other issues. So I wonder how many of the reviews were first impressions, and would they be different after folks had used them for a while.

The consensus seems to be that when they are working well, they are hard to beat.

I haven't been able to find any detail on how they are constructed, only a diagram for how to fill, which doesn't show much. I'm a curious tinkerer, so I'll do an autopsy on the first one that dies. That may give a clue to cause of death and how to keep them going longer. I'll let you all know what I find.

Got my shipment from LF today.

First impression,,,,, I like these mega cartos!

I didn't find that they were hard to fill, but I'm use to using a syringe for the CE2s.

I did not find that performance dropped after the first few drags, we'll se how it goes after a few fills.

TH was mild, which is how I like it. No leakage, not even a microdrop while filling.

But most important to me, the flavor is great. :vapor:

I'll post more on the long term performance of these after a while. I have high hopes.

They do have great flavor! Thanks for mentioning that, I forgot to say so.
I use to use the syringe all the time, I just hate trying to get it at the angle, the filler seems tight in there and I found it to be a small hassle.
Maybe I should crack open the dead one.

Here's what they look like on the inside.
carto-autopsy.jpg

3. Airflow comes in through the metal connector, past the coil, then around and up the sides of the tank.

2. The base of the unit is a plastic plug with a couple of holes for the wires(pictured cut in half).

It appears the plug portion is pre-assembled with the coil and connector. The polyfill is stuffed into the shell and the plug assembly is glued in place. The shell has a seam all the way around, so it's a two piece unit that is fused or glued together.

1. Cause of death. This is where there was a hole in the side. The coil was not out of place, so I'm guessing that the shell had a flaw from the start and the super heated air/vapor caused it to fail. I put this one out of it's misery, but have not had one die on it's own yet.

I'm still liking these, but there is a bit of drop in performance after a couple of fills.

I don't know why Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers weren't mentioned. They're great - last long - hold 5 ml of juice - can be easily cleaned - and have overall top performance in terms of taste and vapor. They only cost $2.49, and I didn't mention that they're easy to fill.

eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer

The eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers were not available till a few months ago, this thread is from much longer ago than that.

I agree, the EMDCC are the best eGo sized cartos out there at this time. From the way the PV world changes, six months from now, I'll probably be into something else. :)
