Hello all,

I saw a thread further down where a member was asking about his 100% VG clogging his carto. He didn't say he was using flavoring. I wanted to make my own e-juice and planned on using VG with a little distilled water if necessary and no nic, then add a simple (i.e. natural), single, water soluble flavoring (like grape without additives or coloring etc).... but what does VG taste like by itself? (I didn't want to hijack that thread or would have asked there.)

I saw a post elsewhere from a woman who bought some USP food grade VG (for another reason, not e-liquid) and put less than a drop on her fingertip to taste it, saying she heard it was sweet. She said it was horrid and tasted like bug spray with Splenda... sweet, but horrid. :) I assume it doesn't taste like bug spray when vaped? Even at close to 100%?

I don't even really know what's meant by a throat hit. I am not a smoker, though I have smoked habitually in the past for short periods (like 2 6mo periods of pack-a-day smoking, cloves and then Prime Time cigarellos), and surrounding those periods, very occasional smoking of same. I am not a smoker now and haven't smoked habitually for years. So I don't think I will miss "the th". :)

But I love vaping! Just tried it a week ago for the first time by investing a very small amount of money on a disposable NJOY to see what it was like. I ordered a Bloog Maxx Fusion (I know, I'm not into the tank mod-thing at this point). Anywho, since it hasn't been proven safe that's another reason I want to keep the juice as pure as possible, and VG seems better than PG as it's natural. But aside from that, I LOVE vapor, so the VG sounds good. But I am concerned it might clog the MF blank cartos. I guess I'll see... and can soak them in vodka or something, right?

In a way, it's like asking "what does a candy bar taste like?" ...While VG has a subtle flavor, it depends on where it came from, how pure it is, and what plants were used to produce it. The flavor is very much in the background anyway, so it's really no big deal.

A couple of things to keep in mind; VG does not carry flavors as well as PG, so many flavors will be more muted. You may need to add a little more flavoring to achieve the same results, and some juices will taste quite different if they are 100% VG or are a VG/PG mix.
VG also has a tendency to "coat" your tongue a bit, so be sure to drink water while vaping (not a bad idea anyway).
If you want to maintain a 100% VG juice, make sure your flavorings & Nic (if you add it) are also 100% VG (many are not).... either way, a little PG is actually a good thing (in my opinion anyway).
VG does not wick well in some devices (its much thicker than PG), so you may need to thin it with DISTILLED water (or Vodka!)

If you are concerned about ingesting/inhaling PG - don't be. PG is ant-bacterial and is used in air filtration systems in hospitals to keep cross-contamination between patients to a minimum, and also used in the antiseptic "fog" used in some surgeries.

Have fun....

Thinking about going all VG also to get rid of the TH. Could be a helpful thread. Can you buy attys(?) with the ss mesh?

I don't know of any pre-built attys with SS wicks (other than "bridged" dripping atomizers like the 306), but you can get an RBA (rebuildable atomizer) and make your own Stainless Steel wicks and coils quite easily...there are many threads here on these forums, and tons of videos on Youtube explaining how its done.

If you want to give one a try without breaking the bank -there are many decent/cheap Genesis-type RBAs that come with mesh, wire, and everything you need to get going for under $20....just Google "Genesis DID mini" and you will get lots of hits - everyone sells them.

Once you learn to set one up correctly (not difficult, just takes a little time to get comfortable doing it), the results are night & day - an RBA gives you a lot more vapor/flavor, and is a lot cheaper than buying cartos/clearos, etc...

Have fun...
