I've never cleaned mine and the two that came with my kit have given me good vapes since I bought them six months ago.

Now they're both starting to get warm after only a few puffs, so I just ordered some more. Would cleaning them stop them from getting hot?

From everything I understand here, I've gotten pretty great results from the lifespan of the kit I ordered at the beginning of January - especially since I've never done any type of maintenance. I don't understand why, but what ever the reason, I hope it keeps up for the next set!

Well I don't know what model you're referring to but its possible that its runnign hotter for that reason.

As atomizers age and buildup collects inside they will produce less vapor and work harder to produce it. Cleaning the atomizer will usually give you a little performance bump and extend the life of it.

EDIT: Just saw the "6 months", thats a long lifespan for an atomizer! Clean it! You're either a very light smoker or have good luck that its lasted this long performing well

This is the one I bought in January: Joye 510 Manual Battery 2 atomizers! Black

I'm not light at all really - I always have one within easy reach! I do use it less now than I did the first few months. When I first made the switch, I all but fell asleep with one in my mouth - seriously put in on my night stand when I shut my eyes and picked it back up as soon as I woke up. Now, I make it to my desk in the morning (all of 5 minutes after I wake up) before I grab it! :D

I'm not always careful about keeping the juice filled, but when the taste gets bad I'll put a few drops in. I just looked in the stomizer and there's some dust in there (and a bit of fuzz), but it doesn't look terrible... The hit isn't as good as new, but as good as a cigarette used to give me.

So to clean it, I just swirl it in vodka, then let it dry?

If the fuzz is grey and sticks out from the sides of the bridge, it's the wick and it is supposed to be there.

If you have blown out the atty and dabbed inside with a rolled up paper towel, it could be paper fibers and that can cause it to taste burnt.

I clean my attys when they gurgle by blowing through the threaded end until a drop or two or three come out onto a towel. That gets the old juice out.

Every several days I run it under hot water in the sink for about 30 seconds to wash out the mesh and clean the holes. After that, I place it upright on a paper towel to allow it to dry until the next morning.

There are more complete ways to clean an atty, but that's my first method.
