What does "Moved On" mean?

I've always wondered myself but was afraid to ask.
Or maybe it was the answer I was afraid of.
Angus, some of those "moved on" people had thousands of posts and I thought had a very good reputation on here. Not that I need specifics, but what do you have to do to get banned?
You have to be a bad, bad boy... or girl. Or you have to ask to be banned. Strange, but some actually do.
It's simple, really. If you abide by the forum rules, you will never have to worry about seeing "Moved On" under your name, unless you ask for it.
I really don't believe that color of a user name has anything to do with being "Moved On".
I know that, just that I don,t want to open a new thread only for that, but indeed that is a question hitting my head
The color is dependent on the usergroups - it's applied automatically.
A quick additional note - "moved on" is the banned usergroup for members that have been banned due to repeated rule breaking etc (or, as angus stated, who have asked to be banned) - we also have the "banned" usergroup for spammers etc.
"Moved on" is, as someone above mentioned, a nicer way of saying "banned", and partly exists in recognition that some members have made considerable contributions to the community before acting in such a way that has seen them banned.

Basically, banning happens as a result of repeated rule-breaking. We don't ban people for breaking the rules occasionally, instead we use the infractions system, which puts people into temporary banning groups like "suspended" or "sin bin" if they accumulate points.
However, all these past infractions are listed in the moderators forum and, if a member repeatedly incurs them, the decision may be taken to permanently ban them (something only admins can do).
Additionally there are some (very rare) occasions where an individual's behaviour goes way overboard and we decide that they are no longer benficial to the community and issue a ban outright.
Basically, we try to strike a balance between allowing people the freedom to express their viewpoint and preventing people from causing offense (and, of course, getting the forum into legal difficulties). The offense bit is particularly hard, as the forum caters to people from all walks of life, and there's often conflict between personalities. That's why we tend to issue warnings etc and edit offensiveness out of posts rather than issue bans, as would happen on many other forums.

You can view the majority of the forums here without actually logging in. So yes, you could see it in one of your previous posts.
Glad someone asked - I always thought it meant former members who've dropped out of the forum or quit using e-cigs.
