I know this question has been answered before but I used the search function and couldn't find the answer sooooo......

Does a "12" e-liquid have 1.2 mg of nicotine per ml? I have converted my sister and brother-in-law to vaping and they are asking about how many cigarettes worth of nicotine are in a clearo.

Thanks and vape on!

No.

Any e-liquid should state clearly, the amount of nicotine per ml. I've seen/heard of a few vendors that don't write it clearly on the bottle, and that is a shame.

If it says "12"......it means 12mg/ml.

12mg/ml means there is 12mg of nicotine PER mL in the bottle.

Also, tell your brother/sister who are asking that you can't really compare the amount of nicotine in a clearo to that of cigarettes. The MAIN reason being that the bioavailibility of nicotine differs based on what method of intake you use.

Smoking cigarettes is a higher absorption rate than vaping nicotine. So even if you did find out exactly how much nicotine is in your clearo, and how many cigarettes would equal that amount of nicotine......it won't matter, because you wouldn't be absorbing the same amount of nicotine anyway.

So with vaping, you kind of have to ESTIMATE, and play around with different nicotine levels (mg/ml) until you are satisfied.

I was a pack a day smoker (a little under actually, more like 14-16cigs/day), and 16-18mg/mL is perfect for me. Any lower than 16mg/mL and I just crave nicotine, even if I chain vape.....and any higher than 18mg/mL and I can feel myself getting too much nicotine).

For those just starting out, I'd say somewhere between 12mg/mL to 24mg/mL would be suitable for 95% of people.

"We're often asked exactly what 12mg or 24mg strengths mean for nicotine. In short, it's the amount of nicotine in milligrams, for each milliliter of eLiquid, expressed as mg/mL. Some companies choose to represent this as a percent per solution, which is where you'll see 1.2% instead of 12mg/mL. This means the same thing, just interpreted differently."

Nicotine Strengths

Just for an example, I was a three pack a day smoker - went from regulars to lights to ultralights. I started vaping at 18mg but now am between 6 and 11mg. 24mg will give me the hiccups - early alert of too much nic - pre-vomit indicator ;)

Strange that you mention this. Is this like 1 hiccup for each puff, or does it really give you the hiccups for a while? Early mornings I sometimes get this one hiccup thingy. Trying to figure out what it's about.

Hiccups for a while - not long though. Happens almost immediately. Doesn't happen at 18mg but every time at 24mg. I've 'experimented' :D

Well there are a few things to keep in mind. Such as that there isn't a good translation in terms of cigarettes to a clearomizer, cartomizer or what have you.

That being said, a juice labeled as 12 in nicotine would be 12 mg/ml or expressed long form: 12 milligrams of nicotine per milliliter of liquid.

An other way to express the same thing is that the bottle of e-liquid would have 1.2% nicotine by volume.
