What exactly is RY4?

so i'm trying to get this straight because i'm intrigued by this RY4.

Are the various vendors just re-branding and re-selling a dekang ruyan #4 or are they formulating they're own. If they are, are they just mixing until they get as close a flavor to the original as possible? Let's ask what they put in there.

Who is the original? Ruyan, right? Manufactured by dekang?

Kent C, I'd like to know what difference you taste/smell between the Janty RY4 and the Ruyan #4 from Dekang. When I got my Janty Stick, the RY4 was in the 5 carts, and was sooooooo bad I washed them all out. How do you think the flavor of Ruyan #4 is different?

The Janty RY4 has a smokey pine taste up front -this... I think it the love/hate taste. People's tastebuds are different. If you like this, it is a really nice non-sweet smokey pine like the resin off of a pine cone. If you don't like it, it smells musty - my friend said: 'moldy basement'... but after having run out of some juice and having that around he picked it up again and is now - months later, his 2nd favorite vape.

I was 'just ok' with it at first but it was my least sweet juice and found myself going back to it after too much sweet from marlboro esp. but others as well. It became my number 1 vape for quite a while. Only some flavors from Decadent Vapours now have surpassed it.

After the 'smokey pine' I get the caramel/butterscotch/vanillla/cream and whatever that other flavor is - my guess is ginger, which has a tad of a bite to it - and what others might taste as raspberry or raspberry that I might taste as ginger ;-) Again, despite the caramel/butterscotch it has those flavors for me without the sweetness.

Dekang ruyan#4 - my wife's favorite and I like it too, is some slight smokey but not nearly as much as Janty and then all the rest mentioned above but to me there is _some_ sweetness to it. And when I walk by my wife vaping it, it does smell good and a bit like cotton candy to me but it doesn't taste that way to either me or her.

And.... Janty's RY3 tastes more like ruyan#4 to me with perhaps just a bit more smokey but nothing near JantyRY4. Janty's RY2 is 'all smoke' and very little of the other stuff. I like it the least now.

I agree, Kent. The RY4 carts included with my JS tasted nothing like Dekangs' RY4, which was my first experience with the RY4 flavor.

The only RY4 I will order is Janty's and my favorite, Pure Smokers' Riskee Yuice.

2 parts unicorn weewoo
1/2 rainbow
2 parts puppy breath

Not sure but I suspect it was manufactured by Ruyan - because they started the whole thing. I know Wayne at heaven gifts makes a point to say that his isn't the original Ruyan and for both the cigar and pipe from Ruyan - the guarantee is only good with Ruyan cartridges... But who knows - maybe it's made by dekang ;-)

I've made some up - without the smokey flavor by using lorann caramel, butterscotch, cream and then tobacco and taboo flavoring from liquidxpress. I add some Janty RY2 juice as a flavoring - the smokiest and get close. To a janty RY4. But I have enough of that on hand to not have to worry for a while. The Widow's RY4 is the same as Janty's. Her Coffee is the same as Janty's Cappuccino. Can't really vouch for the rest but her apple is very good.

The way it sounds, the RY4 has the same flavors in both Janty and Dekang, but in different levels. Have you tried the RY4 from myfreedomsmokes? It might be one of those two brands but rebranded, I'll go check myself, if it is, disregard that.

I don't see where the "pine" flavor comes from, but I do kind of taste what you're talking about when you say ginger. It's must be very sweet ginger if it is though, but does taste more like a fruit/berry to me than ginger.

EDIT: I also fail to taste any tobacco flavor in RY4, not even in the least.

Are there known differences between these liquids? I'm using some from myfreedomsmokes. I'm not exactly sure if it's a re-branded dekang/ruyan juice or if its their own recipe either, so I can't really say if it's "true" RY4 or not. The fact that I can see where most (not all) of these flavor ideas that other people say is reassuring though. I might have to check out these other RY4's, but I don't want to order the same thing if I have it already.

Someone summed up the flavor pretty good I think - "smokey caramel cream". Some taste a tobacco base. I don't. I do on RY1 though.

Part of the guess of ginger is that it's Ruyan and Asian and it's a popular flavor/item there. So if you do your Hilton with choc., Kent with vanilla, Flu-cured with cherry, 555 w/peanuts etc. I could see someone saying 'let's try ginger!' ;-)

The problem with ginger is that it almost always oil based. So is anise but flavorart has a water soluble anise.

I get Vanilla/carmel/tobaccoy taste. It is my favorite so far.

That's exactly what I get (except replace tobacco with Marlboro e-juice). I've got a bottle of Janty RY4, but I haven't tried it out yet. My flavor dance card is full at the moment. I've only tried Dekang.

I'll resist the urge of asking you how you know what that tastes like. ;P
I'm not sure which one Drew at nhaler sells, but I'm guessing it's Dekang? I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

As for the ginger taste, the more I think about it and the move I vape it, the more I taste it. It's not a perfect ginger though, and as it's usually oil based, I'm guessing they might have tried to make it ginger (an obvious choice in an asian country) by mixing other flavors to get that ginger taste.

I have to completely dissagree I got some RY4 carts in with my Janty Stick today it was used from a guy for a week etc.. with 3 attys and 4 batteries...
OMFG I still can't get this taste out of my mouth .. had to boil the carts / attys.... ack!@# My fiance swears it smells exactly like "Golden Grams" I can't stand it.. eww eww eww its just ... WEIIIRD !!!!..

er.. i guess its not the most horrible taste its just weird and leaves that almost.. menthol vapor coldish after taste in your mouth .. soooo freaking odd...

but my main flavor after a week and 10ml of Keoke Coffee I can't taste it anymore =(

My first thought was "raspberry danish". I taste something fruity, as well as something else, perhaps cream and sugar.

I never get any tobacco flavor from it, and have it as more of a dessert vape, mixes well with alcohol flavors.

While most descriptions follow the smokey caramel cream theme and all the pictures that are used by the various vendors (while that means little really), the raspberry has come up about a half a dozen times - more than any other flavor if you include marshmellow included in the vanilla, cream, category. Both raspberry, ginger and pine can have a bit of a tang to them.

What I find is people that really don't like it get the moldy, musty, fake smoke for bbq stuff. Similarly, Janty Cappuccino has a very strong expresso and some cinnamon (pastry type not the hot candy cinnamon) but people who don't like it taste 'burnt toast' or burnt cinnamon toast - so they're experiencing what I think is a strong expresso as a burnt something. And I can 'see' how that could be in both cases. Some taste a chlorine taste in Ecopure Fresh and I can get that occasionally but it's a passing thing. And Fresh was first promoted as 'unflavored' but Fresh actually has the slightest menthol/mint in it. You might not be able to catch that in a small bottle. And again, I think the 'tang' of the menthol along with the VG possibly, comes off to some as a chlorine bite.

Seems like in high school chemistry there was a litmus taste test where some people taste bitter on the pad and some people no taste at all - I was the latter group. And it was a hereditary trait. I'm guessing that has much to do with some of these differences.

I think you're right - I have no bitter receptors, either - but I can taste raspberries, and I've never had a raspberry taste in RY4.

The funny thing is, it tastes different at different times - for instance, this morning, I was awakened at stupid o'clock by the doorbell, staggered down, did what needed doing and staggered back to my 901, with last night's top-off of RY4 awaiting use. Tasted loads of "smoke" (almost B&H-ish), not much sweet at all.

Brushed the hair, combed the teeth, did the coffee thing, hit the 901 again - no change in the juice in the cart - and the sweet starts coming through loud and proud - and definitely more than a hint of honey.

Just hit a fresh top-off as I'm typing this, and the honey has receded a bit, and there's something fruity in there now - lychee?

I wish I was a taste expert (y'know, like a wine reviewer ought to be) so I could describe things better, but I do know this: RY4, for me, is just amazing. Seems to fit in with my mood and needs all the time. Luvvit.

Thanks for the validation of my memory from HS ;-) One thing that I've seen from time to time and it is almost so obvious not to mentoin but along the lines of things tasting different - if I vape anything right after eating anything with oil - even chips - all juices have a bite to them they don't normally have. If it's like an oil and vinegar salad dressing - a harsher bite. Anything 'hot' like chili - almost unbearably harsh. So.... for those looking for the ultimate throat his might have some oil at hand. Oddly, orange juice tends to smooth things out for me. And V8's pina colada smoothie - not the one with vegatable juice in it... is also very good for vaping along with.

I got my (26mg) RY4 batch from aromaejuice.com and there's is more of a berry mixture if anyone is in the market to try it out. It's subtle enough to vape it all day, and I'm usually not into the sweeter types of e-liquids.

I definitely don't get the caramel/tabacco/vanilla taste that others describe, but it is by far one of the best e-liquids I have tried to date.

Like someone else posted, I think every website has there own concoction, and I'm interested in trying the caramel/tabacco/vanilla version that some of you have been trying. Can someone post where I can try that version of the RY4?
