What flavours can i use and where to get them?

I make my own eliquid and have been buying them from various online eliquid sites. However i would like to try and create my own unique recipes. Do i have to use flavours from eliquid suppliers ( as some of the ideas i have, i cant seem to find the flavours). Is normal food flavouring acceptable? I am fairly new to making my own eliquids but would like to try something different.

Anyhoo, if you roll to the top of this page, you'll see a list of vendors. Some only sell made juice, but others sell flavors, too. I've only been DIYing a few months, and I've bought from Azurevaping, OneStopDIYShop, and just placed an order to ECig Express. I would stick to sites that cater toward vaping, because there are some types of flavorings you don't want to inhale. All three I listed have a really nice selection.
