26 works nice, though personally using 24 gauge on me orchid, and vaping quite nice. More importantly, what mod and what batt are you using???? Feel you're relatively new to building, and the Orchid is a quite advanced rba to figure out and build/wick properly.

I use vertically mounted coils, tension wrapped around a 1.7 mm mandrel, using Ramie fiber for the wick. The Orchid was one of my major disappointments, and has been on the back burner for some time. Purchased the Confun 30 mm tank for it, and now it's all vape good:D but not really an rba to start off with, heck, requires some modification, and extra parts to vape up to me standards, but can be made Vape Worthy, with some creative part's swapping:lol:

Vape long and Prosper.!!!!

What do you guys recommend. Just got in the mail and iv heard 26 & 28. Which works better? Will be using just normal cotton balls. And what size screwdriver should I be wrapping it around.
Thanks.

28 gauge is standard gauge on a rebuildable.
1 ohm. single coil.

I'd say you should be aiming for .3 to .5 ohm (dual coil) given that you're on a mech mod. I've got mine at about .85 right now (firing at about 60w), and it's pretty fantastic. Since you aren't on a regulated device though, you'll need to go a slightly lower ohm to get similar results.

Uh, but something tells me that you don't have an ohm reader. In which case, stop what you're doing, and get an ohm reader.

I hate to say it because I absolutely love my Orchid v4. But I would recommend a Lemo over the orchid as it is a bit easier to build and wick with the two piece chimney design. And also it is glass, so no worries about tank cracker juices.

Since you are on a mech, and have a good 35 amp battery, i would start with 26 gauge. it is what I tend to use on most of my builds. Make sure you have a way to check resistance though before you attempt any builds. And also, make damn sure your coils are going to be free of the chimney when you go to put your chimney on. If you build your coils to far away from your posts, there is a good chance a coil will touch the chimney upon assembly, and bad things happen.

Take your time, check your resistance, and just be patient. It is an art form worth perfecting, as the results and money savings that can be achieved are highly advantageous! You simply cannot get better flavor or performance from a self built rda/rta! Again, do some research, and then do some more research on whatever it is you are going to try and build. Patience and safe practice is key!

Good luck on your journey man, you are at the point where things start to get really fun. Treasure it!
