What gauge needles work relatively easily with VG? The largest I have are 15 ga, and they are very slow filling.

I use 14ga for VG. That's what Wizard Labs recommended when I started DIY and it works for me.
I gave up on sucking vg up through a needle tipped syringe. I always keep my vg in bottles with a flip top lid, the ones with a smaller hole in it (kinda like a shampoo bottle).
Then I use a syringe with no needle in it, with the 'lock collar' clipped off. I take the plunger out, put my finger over the hole and drip straight into the syringe itself. Once im close, I keep my finger over the hole tightly, put the plunger half way in, flip the syringe over, wait for the vg to fall away from the hole, and release the pressure. Sometimes you get a teeny bit of vg spray, but its really not much. Once thats done you can 'plunger measure' how much vg is in the syringe, then just squirt it wherever it needs to go.
There is a method to it, and it may not be for everyone. But once you get the process down, you cut your vg measuring time in half, maybe more.

Many people dilute the VG with a little DI water. It's much easier to draw into the syringe and greatly improves wicking. I dilute mine at 10%.
No needle needed..just suck it up directly into the syringe.
You can also find plastic tubing that will fit the end of a syringe snugly and cut off a piece and push it on there...

I have 14 ga and it is disgusting. Takes forever. Fortunately most syringes come with plugs (you remove it when you need to put needle).
I just use these plugs as stoppers, fill syringe from the top (as if cylinder), remove stopper, put on plunge, and viola! (not recommended for 100 mg nicotine).

I would suggest going to your pharmacist and getting a couple different sizes and seeing what is best for you. I bought some for like ¢23 from Samsclub Pharmacy. Good luck to you and I hope some of these answers help. 
LOL. Interesting ideas here. I may have to try a few next time I sit down to mix. As I said, it hasn't been a problem for me with 14ga, but it's always good to find something that's even easier! Thanks.

I took the cap off 120ml bottle and drilled a 1/4 inch hole in it then stuck a 1/4inch tube in the hole. The 1/4 inch tube fits perfectly in the syringe. This was not my idea someone mention using a tube in a different thread I just took it a little further.
