I wanted to start this thread because I like hearing inspirational stories of real people.
Here is what happened to me today:
I got an email from my college's financial aid department. My first thoughts were that they were going to deny my financial aid, HOWEVER to my surprise, It was an email stating I won a scholarship I applied for last year!!! It's kinda a big deal for me because I dropped out of high school back in 1987 and have recently returned to college to a real education as todays demand for highly skilled labor is at an all time high. I'm currently receiving the federal Pell Grant, but thought what the heck, I'll apply for these scholarships and see what happens. They were a pretty lengthy application process where I had to write several essays about myself, not an easy task. I almost forgot that I applied, it's been so long it seems. What a great email.
So, with a little effort and patience, good things do happen.
