Have loved my Penny from day one. Used it constantly since it came out. 3 weeks ago I started getting a nasty taste. Thought it was something to do with my favorite juice. Started switching out different favorite juices. Nasty dryness in my throat and making me cough. Went from using Aunt Lydia's bamboo yarn to cotton candle wick and finally back to silica. Using very low nic, probably 6 mg. Couldn't help but tear it apart and boil everything and scrub it all down. Put it back together with just some unflavored vg no nic and same response. Nastiness in the throat and coughing. Not my pleasant all day vape. Had to put her down for a few weeks and unfortunately went back to smoking a few analogs every day to sucking down a pack a day. Just realized what an asinine thing it was to go back to smoking and last night tried scrubbing down and rebuilding Penny again but same result. Un-vapeable. Anyone else gone through this or have a solution?
Im running 6mg juice on a premade 1.5 ohm coil (same taste results if i build my ohn 1.5 coil)
Thanks!!!!
Chris
Chris this sounds crazy buddy but lets take it one by one. First off disassemble the ceramic housing and take the ceramic out. Now if you have a gas torch do a real good burn of your ceramic. There should be some discoloration in the interior (gone dark) of the ceramic. If you hold it gently with some needle nose pliers do a good burn of the inside of the ceramic with your gas torch. Don't be afraid to burn it well, you'll see that the discoloration will go away and it will turn brilliant white like new.
Next do the same to your silica wick, give it a good burn (removes bad taste)
Next when you make your coil burn very lightly the resistance section. Careful here use a cig lighter and just run the flame up and down the resistance part. Don't over do it or the resistance coil will break.
Now when you assemble everything put some Vaseline on the lower small o-ring under the nut of the ceramic housing, and prime your coil well before you screw on the mouthpiece. Make sure the wick and coil are well saturated with juice then screw on the mouthpiece. Screw on the tank housing and fill.
Once the top is on open the mouthpiece a few turns, this depends on what juice you're using VG is thicker so open it up more. Take a few "dry" toots to help the flow and then try it.
I really hope the issue is the ceramic but don't give up buddy we'll find the solution.
