we can all live in rooms padded with organic cotton, be served a silver platter HC approved slop 3 times a day.

Funny you should mention that. The Department of Defense has ordered that Cadets (my daughter is in Air Cadets) must eat MRE's at Cadet functions, if they are not professionally catered or bought as tv dinners from the store. Parents can't cook at campouts for them. Those MRE's EACH contain three times the recommended amount of sodium in them. Three per day would have them pretty ill if they ate that much. I looooove having such a wise Gov't.

Reflecting on what I've read on this thread, I thought of a theory that might explain HC's stance. Im thinking, HC dares not do anything until the FDA makes a move first.

(No offense to any Americans, this is just one Canadians observation) I think, the head honchos at HC are afraid to do anything that would go against any mighty U.S. institutions decision, lest it causes some political fallout. I think the decision makers at HC look at the FDA as the friendly giant next door. A nice guy, but don't get on his bad side. And if HC went against the FDA, it would be like a stab in the back. and I think, HC is afraid of what the giant will do for payback. Just my 2 cents.

AlbertaClipper dear...I think it's because the FDA keeps getting spanked in court that HC has suddenly decided to go on the offensive, while they can. They want to lie about the nicotine in e-juice (which is exempted from Schedule F) & misclassify e-cigs as "health products" (even though e-cigs & e-juice are not marketed as health products, and do not make any therapeutic claims)...in order to try & scare both suppliers & individual vapers into surrendering now, before HC is forced to admit that the game is up.

Think about it: very shortly, the FDA will have exhausted their last option in this matter. Everything so far overwhelmingly indicates that they will lose. And then, the FDA will be regulating e-cigs & e-juice as a tobacco product. Health Canada will be in the unenviable position of having to explain why their policy is now the opposite of the United States'. Their political need to "keep in step" with the FDA is what drove them to their anti-vaping stance in the first place. Remember, the FDA began seizing shipments in 2008 with that same stance in mind. HC was definitely the follower in this baloney, not the leader.

With the FDA not just defeated on this, but unanimously defeated...and with the laws of Canada already very clear that vaping is legal & not restricted in the manner HC has falsely claimed it is...they're going to have nowhere left to steer the anti-vaping b.s. train. The only thing until now that has lent the appearance of rightness to HC's disregard for Canadian law has been the FDA. That's about to vanish!

---

Furthermore, over the last 2 or 3 years...the pro-vaping evidence has been piling up.

- Study after study has been conducted, proving that vaping is far, far safer than tobacco smoking (to the point of being no more harmful than drinking caffeinated coffe).

- Non-smokers are not being "enticed" to take up vaping to any extent, regardless of age (they'd be crowing it from the rooftops if it ever happened; they aren't, because it hasn't).

- Direct observation demonstrates beyond any reasonable doubt that vaping works extremely well for people as a healthier alternative to smoking.

- Smoking kills, & that's proven; conversely, vaping has not ever killed anyone, nor has it even contributed to a single death...& no one has ever proven otherwise. No one ever can, either...because it doesn't do that. The direct, empirical evidence that people who vape now (as a healthier alternative to smoking) are in markedly better health than before (as a result of not smoking - not because of any therapeutic claim related to vaping, since vaping makes no such claims), and remain very much alive...is putting the lie to HC's vague insinuations of doom. As time passes, HC has only lost more & more credibility on this point.

---

So yeah. HC is just being a bully to all the others in the playground while it can, before the parents show up & put an end to it. But its bullying of Canadian vapers is not supported by law - is in fact based on contradicting the law - and they know that their reign of terror is about to end. That's what we're witnessing.
