Didn't see there were further responses. I did remove the screws and boiled the quasar several times with no change, arrg. I'll try a night in pga...

Make sure you remove all the o-rings too. Machine oil tends to hide under the orings. Also, I boiled mine with some isopropyl alcohol and water, and then boiled it a few more times in plain water to rinse it out.

Just another thought at one time I had a PG base that gave a petroleum taste to my juice so I tossed it. Could the RM4 be amplify that? try just straight VG and see if it's still there.

This type of things crossed my mind as after trying the atty several times when i smelled my juice, i had the impression to smell the bad flavor. But that was flavor association i think as i can get the machine oil flavor ln the rm4 (and quasar) on a fresh coil with no wick or juice, just by pulsing it a few time.

I think i got the explanation while typing this answer : there's probably some machine oil under the insulator...

Received my center pin for my 454. I haven't put a hole in it yet at deck level, just squonking through the 4 wire holes at the top of the pin. Have to be careful of over squonking.

Built this time with .5mmX.1mm flat ribbon wire @0.63ohms. First time using flat ribbon wire. This flat ribbon wire seems to create more heat at a higher ohms, resulting in some better battery life. Clouds are incredible, and the flavour of the unflavoured is all there. :vapor:
