So I read that Cotton gives the best vapor production and flavor, so I jacked a 100% cotton ball out of the bag, rolled it up, and stuck it in my Davide in place of the flavor wick. Someone said they use cotton balls so I figured why not. It tastes so awful, it's the worst thing I've ever tasted in my life. I even took it out and it still has the taste. It's so bad I can't even describe it. I blame the internet.

Lol. Well, you have to use only certain cottons. I use the sterile cotton rolls from CVS. And you have to make sure they are truly 100% cotton and unbleached. There's alot of different kinds of cotton balls and most of the standard ones aren't the same. Plus most of us boil the cotton more than once and let it dry real good to get rid of any extra chemicals, etc.

How much cotton did you use? I use micro coils (there is a thread in the rebuildable section), and with those I just boned a pinch of cotton from a cotton ball, lightly roll the one end, and pull thru the coil. You don't want too much resistance when pulling it thru because cotton swells a lot. I haven't used cotton with a typical cotton, such as a 5/6 wrap that is spaced out but I'm guessing that the same principal applies.

When I change my wick, if I accidentally burn etc, I dry burn the coil until it glows. Again, I would guess that would work with your set up. Good luck.

LOL. Not sure that is exactly what that poster meant. sorry for your troubles. I think that poster may have been referring to something like a Butchers twine instead of silica? but I think you would have to dry burn it first.

Let me hazard a guess, you didn't prime it and got a massive rip of cooked cotton?

Always prime cotton, NEVER power the coil with it dry or even close to dry.

Like $4 for a box of 100% Cotton Sterile Cotton Balls at CVS, with enough to make eleventy-billion wicks. Fresh cotton will have little to no taste at all, even unboiled.

So you vaped smelly feet, nice. A wise man learns from fools. Head over to youtube and watch what others do. I said putting some wings on and flapping them would let you fly you would either kill yourself or think I am crazy. Get some information then experiment.

Yeah, watch some videos and read up on some posts. Search function is your friend. I spent a good 30 minutes at walgreens reading every dang label on every dang box of gauze looking for cotton and didn't find any. Cotton balls were available but not sterile cotton. Meh

Yea, I did the same, Agavehound. Walgreens didnt seem to have any. And I have cotton balls under the bathroom sink, but they aren't the right kind for vaping. Most cotton balls are not the right kind.

Probably won't try cotton for awhile. Currently using an SS mesh around silica and it is hitting soo gooood. Don't like the idea of having to tear down the Russian every day to replace the cotton and can't imagine it getting that much better to justify the PIA factor. lol trying to find the find the long use between build fantastic vaping coil, and I have, can only improve on my next few builds, My technique ain't that great since it's only my second build, but OH MY G!!!! Get to play with a genesis pretty soon, so good for now.

Dunno what all areas have a CVS, but nearly every CVS will have the boxes below in the medical/wound treatment area.

2.99 a Box online, may be $1 more in store, cant remember.
