If you have to keep the tanks upside down just to keep them from leaking, therein I think lies your problem. They shouldn't leak when both the coil head and bottom base are screwed together and to the tank housing properly. If the coil head is not sealed to the base, you will suck lots of juice and the coil leads likely wont make contact with the battery. It will also leak out the bottom and into the air channel. Just take it slow when putting these bad boys back together and make sure the coil goes down firmly into the base, and then the base into the tank housing evenly without any gaps.
