Online, buying in bulk and you're looking at around $2 each. At your local store, the cost could be around $4 after tax. Properly cared for, they can go for weeks without having to be replaced or rebuilt.

Is it really worth it? I found that it wasn't. My time is valuable. However, like luniz mentioned, it's a good skill to acquire. You never know when you either can't order new ones or make the trip to the brick and mortar joint to buy some. It's not terribly difficult, but expect to fail a few times as you learn how.

My first attempt was an unmitigated disaster. Second was almost as bad. Third, fourth and fifth time were like clockwork.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking... it would be nice to know but I really don't feel like committing the time to learning when they can be acquired for so cheap :/ lol

When it's time to replace the heads it's usually because their too far gone. I've had some new heads go completely wacky on me with flooding etc, that I can't figure out. I have gone trough so many replacement heads that the cost is making me need to learn how to rebuild them. That's my next to do.

I don't think the new replacements that are made for the PT's, Evods, etc. are as good as the old Evod replacements. I've had some problems with the new ones. They are inconsistent compared to the old ones. That really begins to add up when your using 2 or 3 just to get my Evods working like their supposed to again. Very frustrating.

I've been getting my replacement heads at Discount Vapers. It's not their fault that Kanger has to change something that is working perfectly fine. Why do they do that?

Doesn't rebuilding your own coils mean that you also need to invest in a multimeter to check the ohm level, etc, for safety reasons?
Thought I read that somewhere here a few months ago...
Yes or have a mod that can check it like VAMO. Also a short will kill the ego battery instantly!:danger:

^^^^^^^^
This.
Great advice. Please don't think that building your own coils is simple and easy from the get go. If it's something you are interested in I would advise you to do a ton of research and then do a bit more. After you get the hang of it, it's not bad, but still nothing to be taken lightly.

I would suggest that even if you don't use the skill often, it's a good one to have. When I first started on ecigs, I didn't have all the equipment I have now. There was a week where I had only 1 good head left for my EVODs, and it stopped working after I cleaned it. I had already ordered more and knew they would be here in 2 days, but that night, I ordered my first wick and wire spool and learned how to rebuild. I have the same 10 heads that I've had for 6 months now, and they get new coils every ~2-3 weeks. It's really satisfying to sit down and vape some of my DIY juice with a new DIY coil and wick.

Anyways.....always have backups for your backups and remember that 2 is 1 and 1 is none. Have Fun! and if there's anything else you need, I'm sure someone here will help.

Can you recommend the wick and wire spool type ? I would like to give it a try.
