what is a drip tip ? and how is it used ?

The drip tip is the tip for your atomizer and it prevents juice from getting in your mouth!
Some look nicer than others but they all have the same purpose and usually perform the same!

It's not to just be on the end, it usually has a bigger hole than a regular mouthpiece so you can directly drip your e-juice onto the atomizer instead of having to buy the cartriges to put the juice in

They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and material. Some clearomizers already have a drip tip, or mouthpiece attached like pictured below, in which case a separate drip tip would not be needed. Otherwise it's used on most other attachments.

Technically Calico21 is correct. The drip tip was a mouthpiece with a wide hole in it so you could literally drip drops of juice on to your atomizer without having to remove it.

Now the term is used to just mean a mouthpiece in general.

I've tried not obsessing about drip tips because I am so busy spending my money on other things - but I am slowly building a small collection.

Thanks glowplug. It's funny that she looks like a pup (like everyone who meets her thinks she is a puppy) but she is almost nine. She's a mini pinscher and my little darling.
