Drink whatever liquids you like (non-alcoholic). Even coffee, which contrary to what most people believe, has a net hydrating effect. (But it's hard to drink enough coffee to keep yourself hydrated!)

Fruit juice, kool-aide, milk, tea, lemonade, whatever floats your boat; anything you can drink a lot of.

Alcoholic beverages are probably the only drinkable liquids which have a net dehydrating effect.

ETA: As said above, anything with a lot of salt (like tomato juice or V8) is also probably a bad idea.

Unfortunately for me, Gatorade tastes like what I imagine it would taste like coming out the other end.....

I can't make myself drink water and coconut water taste like dirt to me. What else is good to keep you hydrated?

I swear by coconut water, but it kinda tastes like BLOOD to me. YUCK! If you mix the coconut water half and half with pineapple juice, all you really taste is the pineapple juice -- and it's a good mix because pineapple juice is also high in potassium. Or you can even mix less coconut water into the pineapple juice. I drink a big glass with my breakfast everyday, the half and half mix, and I never get those sore feet or puffy ankles anymore from electrolyte mayhem.

I also decreased my regular tea by 80%, just 2 cups in the morning (to minimize kidney/bladder over-stimulation; the caffeine from all-day real tea was making me pee about every 15-20 minutes -- no way to stay hydrated with that going on), and then switch to decaf iced tea for the rest of the day; I don't put a great deal of sugar in my tea, so it's a good way to get more fluid without caffeine.

Attempting to hydrate with anything besides water (normal, flavored, coconut, whatever) or a sports drink is futile. Yes, consuming any liquid is better than consuming no liquid, but nothing actually quenches your thirst and hydrates you like water.

Every vapor needs to consume an increased volume of water. Water. Water. More water.
