In the context of just vaping and drinking sports drinks to stay hydrated you guys are correct, but, but, but... if you are getting heavily dehydrated from a different activity like manual labor, in the sun, or sports. You should reach for the sports drink. All that sodium is there to replace what you sweat out, but it's no replacement for water. If you were drinking it, it should be maybe 1 sports drink for every 4-5 bottles of water. If your pee is clear, then you're hydrated. Two deployments to the desert have made me very experienced in what it means to lose hydration and the best way to get my fluids back up.
