Cotton Candy by TPA is Ethyl Maltol in PG. It is used as a mild sweetner and is also great at toning down the harsh notes & rounding out the flavors in your DIY liquids. Ethyl Maltol can also be purchased in crystal form and mixed with PG yourself (1/4tsp EM per 10ml PG)

Ahh, there we go. I thought I had read somewhere that this was the case (that it actually was exactly that ingredient in something someone called "cotton candy") but had completely forgotten which vendor it was. Apparently more than one place do that (or used to).

As far as diluting in PG...my bad. I think I had just read the alcohol suggestion because it's faster at diluting the crystals or possibly has a higher saturation point, but I'm not sure. Either way, I know AzPlumber knows his stuff, so no trip necessary to the package store for me then :)

cotton candy is used as a revenge tool when you are babysitting your grandchildren. Or at least that is what my plan is...

But like Az said in DIY e-liquid the most common use is as a sweetener. This is actually a misnomer since it is more of a sweet note enhancer than a pure sweetener.

Any tips on using EM with fruit flavors? Ive been using sucralose but ordered some em crystals to try out on my tobaccos. I may try to see what effect it will have on fruits so recommendations would be great.

I would start out pretty low, about 1drp per 5ml and work your way from there. It will not sweeten near as much as sucralose but you'll notice that it will change the flavor by smoothing out some of the more prominent or sharp notes. It can be good in some fruits but can dull the flavors if too much is used. If you're not a sweet junkie, it might just be your cup of tea.

Thanks Az! I always appreciate seeing your posts and the info you provide. Ill try it out. Ive noticed that using sucralose some of my sweetened fruit and dessert type juices seem to get rather bland and flat if they sit more than a couple weeks. I know its not my VG (Im an all vg diy, cept for flavorings) as I never had that issue before using sucralose so I thought Id try EM.

I dont mind sweet. Not a fan of sweetener in tobacco mixes tho. Im hoping EM in tobacco will simply round out flavors that are harsher.

Start my EM at 2% and will go to 3% ( Have never needed to go higher) for my tobacco mixes and it works great in rounding out and smoothing the flavor. Good Luck.
