dripping is just that. no tank to hold e liquid. its just a coil and you drip your e liquid onto it and vape. In the beginning all we had were attys and cartos. Attys you dripped a few drops into and then vapes a few puffs. Cartos were fill of filler material that soaked up the e liquid like a zippo lighter. This is what all the cheapie cigarette look a likes come with now....prefilled cartos.
Second, a disposable atty? you mean a disposable ce4 or clearo ( clearomiser )? There's atomisers, cartomisers, clearomisers and rebuildable atomisers or RBA's then you have rebuildable tank attys ( RBTA's) not sure what your asking here... If you have an atty then you should know what dripping is, you may be confused a bit on the jargon. Any way you can post a pic of what you have so we can help you better?
lastly, yes, you CAN clean them out with water but you must make sure its completely dry before you reuse it and i dont recommend using water. I suggest vodka or PGA ( pure grain alcohol ) to clean your attys in. Hope this helps.

Yes, Dripping is with a rebuildable dripping atomizer, where you can drip a few drops and vape that.
That produces the best flavor when doing it with a rebuildable dripping atomizer.

An atomizer can be a lot of things though. there are many different types of Atomizers. The mouth piece is usually called a drip tip.
If you are using a cigarette look alike... then I dont know, you should try it. If you are using a tank... you probably still can. I personally use an RDA, and sometimes I do that. just be careful, as the coil inside the atty does heat up, and metal conducts heat, so if the metal is too close to the coil or the coil gets too hot, you may burn your lips a little bit.

hope this helped.

No.... dripping is when you take juice and litterally drip 2-3 drops in between every couple of puffs.
Like drip drip drip puff puff puff..
thats a tank.

but if you wanna take the mouth piece off, you can. wont be "dripping"though.

there are special atomizers for dripping that you have to use

THose are CE4 clearomiser tanks in the pic you posted. you cannot drip with these and they are disposable. If you try to use it without the driptip/mouthpiece your going to get a mouth full of e liquid. If you like this style, there are similar types that are not disposable like the iclear 16, Aspire BDC, kanger t2, td3...et cetera and so on.... that have changeable heads/coil and wick units so you don't have to try and clean or throw the whole thing away when it starts to wear out. you just replace the heating element/coils. If your interested in dripping you will need to purchase a dripping atomizer. Youtube is your friend. There are thousands of youtube videos that can help you understand better.I know when I first started, I spent a lot of time on these forums and youtube. :D Hope this helps.

I am sorry, but there are other types of atomizers besides RDA's, and an RDA giving the best flavor is objective. I get the best flavor for me out of a 510 or a 306, NOT my RDA's

I know what sub-ohming is but is dripping and sub-ohming the same thing?

No. Sub ohming CAN be done with a dripper but it's not exclusive to one. There are also sub ohm tanks.

Dripping is different in that you drip eliquid directly on the atomizer coil. A dripper can hold anywhere between 3 & 20+ drops of eliquid depending on the type of dripper you use. 306 & 510 dripping atomizers are smaller & disposable so they don't hold much eliquid. therefore you can only drip between 3-5 drops or so on these before you have gurgling &/or leaking. They have great flavor though so don't let their size make you think they don't perform well. They do.

Rebuildable drippers often have juice wells in them so they can hold a lot of eliquid. But you still use them the same way as with the disposable type. The main difference with these besides the larger wells is that you actually build the coil yourself & put in the wicking. Whether or not they perform well is dependent on your ability to build the coil and wick them properly. But when they are built properly they also produce great flavor.

You can not sub ohm with a 306 or 510 disposable atty. They aren't built that low. I think the lowest ohm disposable I've heard about is like 1 ohm. When I used them I generally used the 1.8 ohm. You can obviously sub ohm with a rebuildable as they are built by the user so the user can build them as low as they want.

A few years ago, this is what my drip atomizers looked like inside. (drip tip removed)
    P1000374.jpg

And like others said, I would just drip a few drops of juice into it, and vape away.
Unfortunately Joytech decide to "upgrade" my favorite atomizer into extinction.
I don't really mind because I was able to find RDAs that work even better that will never need to be replaced.
