    An eGo, a 14650 e-power, a Silver Bullet, and a 5v 510 pass through.
Don't laugh, but most of the time I will be dripping one of the verious hotrod atties on an eGo bat.
Right now I am dripping Lime Ricky from Electronicstix.com in a 1.5 ohm LR 510-T atty (minus wick plate), and I must say I have never had this many Lime Rickys before without getting falling down drunk.

Mindfield: maybe with your higher voltage the fluxomizers will work out better for you, but to me they gave hits that felt like what I got from the 510-T/eGo tanks. I didn't get the bad wicking, burnt taste from fluxomizers (like I did from the tanks), but the hits feel sort of cool and seem to lack TH.

Well, it depends on the resistance you get. The lowest range I've seen in those is 2.4-2.6ohms, which would still deliver a pretty cool vape at 3.7V -- at best you're getting about 5.7W output or lower if it falls into the upper range of its resistance tolerances. These I think would be best served at around 4.5-5V for a warmer vape with more flavour and TH, or 6V if you want it to punch you in the head. I've probably been spoiled, but I don't think I could use anything higher than 2.0ohms on an eGo/Riva.

I did get the lowest resistance fluxomizers. I've been thinking that I need to try a higher voltage at some point. Since I don't have any extra money, for now I'm going to just make a 5V PT with an old USB cable and a 510 connector. Hopefully that will get the TH going better with the fluxes. I like the convenience of them, and the flavor was already decent.

OT: Are you the same Mindfield from touch arcade?

And, back on topic... I forgot to add juice preferences before. Mostly stuff from VapeRite and Vapor Station lately. Right now it's a blend of VS Cafe Sumatra and VR 2X Butterscotch. I guess butterscotch-coffee sounds like an odd combo, but I really like it.

You can get a basic VV pretty dirt cheap. MadVapes has a VV box mod with linear regulator, pre-assembled for $35. It's nothing pretty to look at, dead simple, and they seem to be out of stock at the moment, but for $35 (whenever they make more) plus the cost of a couple 14500s, it's hard to complain. :) And then of course there are plenty of 5V mods available for under $100.

That would indeed be me. :) Haven't been around there much lately though.

I do like Vaperite. He makes some fantastic flavours. Not much into tobacco flavours but the sweets I've tried from him have been excellent. His Toffle in particular is incredible, though it really shines best at higher voltages or really low res.

I get all the TH I can handle w/ 2.6ohm CE2 at 3.7v by adjusting nic.

Not everyone wants to bump their nic if they want a better TH though. Plus, I'm already at 24mg. I've tried 36 and found the TH way too harsh for me (though up to 30 is tolerable for me). A few drops of vodka can help a little, too. I also like a warm vape though, so either LR or HV are my only options for that.

Yeah, I've been thinking about getting the $35 MV VV. Right now, even that isn't in the budget, but a $4 DIY PT is... and I like making things. Sounds like a fun little project.

That thread of yours over at TA got me to quit smoking. Before reading it I didn't take PVs at all seriously. Never saw one in person, and doubted that inhaling a little steam could even come close to being satisfying. After reading it I picked up a little Joye 510, and quit smoking a couple of weeks later. Thanks!!! (I'll definitely check out the Toffle next time I order from VR. Sounds good.)

Quite true -- and it'll let you experiment with higher voltage for a dirt cheap price. Definitely worth puttering with. :)

Excellent! Glad I was able to help! I started that thread because I was just that surprised at how well it worked, and was ecstatic to finally be able to quit smoking. I felt like I just wanted to share that with everyone. :) Plus, it if helped anyone else, so much the better -- and it seems to have done so, which just makes me happier that I started that thread.

Off topic but related, Eli just turned me into a mod over there now that IMNS has apparently gone AWOL. Now I'm afraid of what I might have just gotten myself into...

been reading this thread and thought u guys might help me. i'm essentially a non-smoker who is becoming fascinated w/vaping because i'm a tech geek and i do enjoy an occasional pipe or cigar (used to love djarums back in college) i got a volcano ecig about a year or so ago. that was ok but i'd really like something better (which doesnt seem to say alot). so i guess im looking for a quality vape without concern for quantity. since it will be for only occasional use (with little to no nicotine) i dont want to spend a lot either (for now). I looked at the infernos and have already purchsed some recommeded juices.
so what should i vape with? think this madvape vv would be a good choice?
(sorry for the long post. my first one :)

Hey, welcome, no worries about long posts. I've written a few books here...

I suppose it really depends on what it is you're looking to get out of vaping. Having been a non-smoker you don't necessarily have all of the same priorities in vaping that others do. (eg. I prioritize throat hit over anything else as without that it doesn't satisfy; others value vapor production, some value flavour, some value the form factor of the device, etc.) So I think what you really have to ask yourself is: What aspect(s) of smoking a pipe or a cigar most draws you to doing it?

hmm...interesting question. I guess I'd have to say the taste and the vapor production since i really just like to puff with the occasional inhalation. I guess I'd also have to say I like holding on to something more than something in my mouth. Tho i hadnt thought about it that way until now.

No worries if you haven't. That's not a question I think any of us had to ask ourselves until we started vaping and understanding the fundamental differences between smoking and vaping. And we usually have to ask ourselves that because we often find something may be missing from our experiences, so we start figuring out what it is we enjoyed about smoking that we're not getting from vaping and then look for something that can meet those needs.

As far as flavour goes -- you may or may not already be aware of this, but nothing is going to replicate the flavour of a burning pipe or cigar. You might find a tobacco flavour that does come close to the flavour of the fresh tobacco itself, but nothing can recreate the taste or smell of burning tobacco.

So if you're okay with that, then there's plenty that can be done about vapor production. Any liquid with a certain ratio of vegetable glycerin (VG) will help create nice big plumes of vapor.

For the rest, you might want to think about things like throat hit (do you inhale?) and particular flavours that might be a pleasing alternative to the taste of burning tobacco that you can't get -- and there are literally hundreds if not thousands buy now, with each hand-crafted juice from different vendors having their own take on any given flavour. Heck, choosing your liquid is an adventure in itself. :)

Thanks that gives me some good stuff to think about. I do think I can accept the fundamental differences between smoking and vaping and I think that's part of what has intrigued me about vaping to begin with. I know throat hit is very important to many people, yourself included, but I really dont particularly like the sensation as much as I like the taste and the aftertaste. I think I also tend to like pipe tobacco as it smells less "ashy" than cigarettes if that makes sense. I've def. been having fun browsing and reading up on juices I want to try, but i know hardware is important too. With all that being said, any suggestions for a solid step up from the basic volcano (blu knockoff)? I ordered a drip tip as i hear thats good for flavor and ive ordered a couple popular juices. So im taking a few steps forward into vaping but im not afraid to leap in further either....
