What is the Max Allowable Length for a Thread Please

A few of the longer running threads have been locked recently.

Reason given is the length is impinging on server efficiency/resources.

What is the maximum length that any given thread can reach before it needs to be locked?

Would be nice to know this.

This information would give us the opportunity to be proactive and work towards the community good.

Also help to avoid the trauma that can ensue upon showing up at the water cooler and finding it closed!

Actually, this is something under discussion by the staff at the moment. We've seen some conflicting reports. It is being looked at.
