Instead of the air going straight into the bottom of atty...in comes in from the top is pre-warmed inside the cone and then enters the bottom of the atty.
makes for a warmer vape.
but it can also constrict airflow, which can be a small problem depending upon the type of atty your using and how airy you like your draw.
however you can vary how tight you put the cone on to change this.
My wife was vaping hers pretty hard a while ago and she said it was starting to get very warm where she was holding it. I imagine it would have been much hotter if she was holding the atty directly instead of the cone, so maybe it's also there to insulate your fingers from heat.
