What is the relationship between coil diameter, ohms rating, awg, & wick size?

Setup consist of iTazte vv 3, mpt2 & pt2, e-liquid is ranges between 65/35 - 70/30 PG/VG. I would like to try ekowool wick material, hollow or with cotton core - for better taste and what size 1mm 1.5mm 2mm 2.5mm 3mm is optimal ? Looking @ AWG 29 - 30 for 1.8 - 2.2 ohm single coils. Really would like to know the experts' opinion on awg 29-30 Kanthal A-1 Resistance wire. I've spent a lot of time lost in the "Protank Micro Coil Discussion" ... some tutorials, the General Kanthal Guide. Appreciate your time & input.

I think one good factor is your voltage / watts used as well as resistance and all as posted...

I'm sold on Japanese cotton, but many many love eko (and nextel RxW). There are different ways to coil this stuff... hand wrapped spaced, hand wrapped micro (contact coils) and also pre wrapping your micro coil tight (compressed) and fitting the eko in just right so that you don't get crimping on the wicking cells of the eko material...
As for voltage/watts I prefer 30g wire at 1 to 2 ohms and voltage to taste up to 6 or 7+ volts for the 2 ohms.
Some will say thick wire and lower ohms which produces more watts but I find thick wire creates so much heat and takes longer to cool down, affecting the juice and wick.

ukeman, Is that bleached or unbleached Japanese cotton, how durable is it, does it burn as easy as regular cotton? Does it have to be boiled too? Was looking at this cotton as a coil wrap for the BVC horizontal coil style. Seems like the biggest complain about cotton is durability & you can't dry burn it to clean? Why do you swear by your choice of Japanese cotton? What are its pros & cons?

What is your favorite e-liquid @ 6-7 Volts? BTW 6-7 Volts is higher than my iTazte will go. lol Are you vaping on one of those super drip tanks & mod? Lol
Still I would like to know how changing the diameter of a wrapped coil affects the coil build other than "its cartridge fit in the cup which is no small matter' ;)

its organic Japanese cotton pads... there are a few different types and brands including Muji, White Pony, Ko Gen Do but look on ebay and any of those will do; they are pads that need to be cut with the grain, and either rolled into a cylinder or just cut to fit --- pinch the tip and slip into the micro coil (my way).
fast and easy rewicking.
No dry burning! but so easy to change... once you remove the old wick, you can dry burn. (unless you have the new Temp Control DNA40).
Pros are flavor and vapor and ease of use ... really the amount of time and effort is so small considering the great benefits.

I use high vg and low nic.... but if you have more PG, you can up your voltage/watts to get sufficient vapor. You need to dial in our sweet spot. (either with changing resistance of your coil or upping your power).

I'm not familiar with your atomizer so you have to work with the confines... diameter is variable within reason.

Not the expert -- but just finished two rebuilds on mini protank 2's with excellent result. Been playing around a while but this is likely where I'll stay on this device.

I used the Wire Coiling Gizmo with 1.83mm mandrel, 30 gauge Kanthal A-1 and 8 wraps to make full contact microcoils. And then wicked with Cellucotton Rayon.

The 1.83mm size mandrel seems almost perfect as you can use a 1"-2" piece as mounting jig for near perfect alignment (and coil preservation) while inserting grommet, pin, firming, tensioning, and centering coil. Tried 2mm but it was too large to lay in the slot. I tell you these look darn-near perfect -- sorry, no pictures!

Good vape production and solid flavor, especially on mini-PT 2.

Disclaimer: I normally vape RDAs, Magma and mini-A7, a small chamber RDA.

LoveVanilla, hmmm... 1 nickel = 2mm, 1 penny = 1mm ;)
ukeman, My next batch of e-liquid will be DIY , mostly tobacco flavors so PG/VB ration will be up for relocation. thank you for the wick information. Will probably wind up buying a little bit of this & that to see how it tastes to me. It is a helpful time saver to read what others are using & why?

A 2mm mandrel/drill bit doesn't fully fit the base slot -- but a nickel does? So I double-checked -- and guess what? Thickness of a nickel is actually 1.95mm. Wonder where one could find that size? :)
