Ok, this is for experts only, since I don't need answers that will lead me in the wrong direction. As happens with most "brands", there are several different flue cured flavours that have nothing or very little to do with each other. During my hard enough searches, I found a Flue Cured that's quite similar to Dekang's at Cloud9, except that it's missing the light sweet-ish taste Dekang adds to it, not at all sickening like vanillin for example, quite on the contrary, a definitive plus. I've tried adding honey from Flavourart but came to the conclusion that it's not about honey. I thought about Ethyl Maltol but I've never used it and I can't tell. I've also been told caramel but I highly doubt that's what's missing there. So, I know these things are little mysteries and all but I'm into DIY and I'm really not interested in buying Dekang's liquid all the time even though I like it a lot. I even wrote Dekang asking but I doubt they'll answer...

So, for experts who are familiar with Dekang's Flue Cured and who are also familiar with different sweeteners, people who probably even reached a conclusion on the very same subject, what on earth am I looking for? Thank you so very, very much! :thumb:

I thought that sweet taste reminded me of maple sugar. FA Maple (not Maple Syrup) and ethyl maltol is worth trying, I think. But then again, if you've read the Flue Cured thread you might not trust me on this.... :)

If you haven't worked with ethyl maltol, I recommend you get some and try it; it's a staple ingredient for most DIYers who mix tobacco flavors. I use Cotton Candy flavor from Perfumer's Apprentice, and it's simply EM in PG.
