I've been thinking about getting a Woodvil, and I read on another thread (closed) that it will have the option of a squonk hole or "sliding door" option. I think the idea sound cool, but I can't visually how the "sliding door" will work? Someone had Rob custom made him one. But supposedly you slide a door up and down to squonk.
what is this "sliding door" thing for the upcoming Woodvil?

I am confused here. All recent reos ( grand mini woodvil) have sliding doors.
The very old reo woodvils had a plunger instead of a hole but the sliding door has always been there.

I guess I'm confused too. I thought they meant using the sliding door mechanism to squonk, as if the door somehow squeezes the bottle, without a plunger or squonk hole. Nevermind...
Perhaps they are talking about a plank door - with no squonk hole. You raise the door and then use one of your fingers or thumbs to squonk the bottle.

Three doors available for wood REO's: Plank (no squonk hole, no plunger or hole), Plunger (solid door except for small hole with plunger), Squonk ( hole for pressing bottle)
All doors slide. The option for using the Plank door is not for some people. But for some of us sliding the door up is not a problem. In fact I remove the plunger from the door and just slide it up instead.

I've since had Rob put a hole in the door .... the sliding became a pain in the zzz pretty quick. More so was I couldn't get over the extra ware and tare I was putting on the door by sliding it tens of thousands of times over the life of the mod.
Looks great .... not that practical.
