Here goes. I bought a ego back in June used it then advanced on to the twist, spinner, lambo, MVP. I have probably 30 bottles of juice I have found my favorite juices also but i still smoke analogs. Why? I Have slowed down a lot but I just can't seem to kick the habit completely. I smoke somewhere around 1/2 pad a day. How do I get completely off analogs? Apparently it is going to take more willpower than I have had at the moment. Am I kidding myself into thinking I want to quit? I have read so many people talk about that they didn't mean to quit and it just happened. I need suggestions on what to do. I am terrified of being without a analog. It probably makes no sense to most people but it scares me to give up something that has been a part of my life for all of these years. I don't even go to the store with out them.

I was terrified to let go of my cigarettes, too.

I decided that I wasn't quitting smoking, I was just checking out vaping. I got a juice that was higher in nicotine and vaped more. I still smoked when I wanted to smoke.

The whole time I vaped and vaped and vaped.

One morning without planning to, I decided to NOT have the first cigarette. I haven't needed one since.

I haven't QUIT smoking, per se. No pressure, no guilt. If I smoke again I do and it's no big deal. I'll just keep vaping and let the cigarettes deal with themselves.

Don't be afraid. You've held onto that crutch for a long time and it's okay to keep holding it. I've still got a cigarette around here...somewhere. I'll smoke it if I need it.

Let yourself do it in YOUR time. You're OKAY. :)

You might need to up the nic to a higher level. I think most start around 24mg liquids (I did). Down to 18mg now, tried 12mg for a week, didn't work so I had to go back up to 18mg.

Another thing you might try is not lighting that analog and pick up your vape and vape til the urge goes away to light up. After a few days, analogs will taste like .... yuck, they did for me. I was one of those that didn't want to quit smoking, that was 4.5 years ago.

I wish you the best on your quest to be analog free!

Relax everyone has their own time and pushing it or over thinking it will not speed things up. You say you've cut down on the analogs so whilst not completely vaping is helping you and as others have said try upping the nic level but main thing is stop worrying about it as nothing truly happens till your comfortable. Wish you the best of luck with your journey however long it might take.

Is all good... you're doing great just cutting back! I started as a courtesy to a passenger on a long road trip, and just sort of never smoked again! 6 months now, and haven't felt this good in years! It may be your issues have to do not so much with nicotine, but with old, ingrained habits. They are just as hard to break as the nic. Things like when you smoke (after a meal, in the car, etc...), hand-to-mouth action, having something to 'fiddle with'. Even throat hit can make a difference. I find that the only time I think about having a analog is when my batts are starting to die (giving a weaker hit), or I'm not getting a decent throat hit due to coils needing to be cleaned. Also, it is gratifying to see the vapor... if I don't see at least a fair amount of vapor, I feel a little cheated! I'm no cloud chaser, but...

Anyhow, just keep up the good work, and Vape On!

yes, nicotine is addicting, (and i might get bashed for saying this and i know most of you out there know this) but there are 4,000+ other chemicals in a cigarette, so upping nicotine alone might not help.

but you are FINE. haha. theres actually a thread on here...actually more of a "support" thread for those who vape and still smoke analogs. so youre not alone! but what i had to do was look at it from a different perspective. not about needing a cigarette or the nicotine, but looking at when i wanted to smoke. i realized i was smoking not because i wanted one but "just because" or because somebody said "lets go for a smoke break" or when i wanted to stall time at work, when i was waiting for my gf to finish work. ALOT of it is habitual. i.e. one analog on the way to work, then one every hour on the hour (sort of as a timestamp...counting down the hours), one on the way home, one after every meal. the list goes on.

now, im no psychologist, but i believe theres many other subconscious reasons why we smoke(d). once you pinpoint those reasons, you'll be able to assess how to break certain habits and if you really want to quit bad enough, it'll happen. it might not happen overnight like it did for some, but dont let that discourage you.

keep your head up!

Focus on the analogs you haven't smoked instead of the ones you have. You'll get there when you're ready. It took me a while to get rid of the cigarettes entirely too. What worked for me is something they recommend for people weaning themselves off cigs. Identify the times when you really want one, the smokes you just gotta have (first thing in the morning, after a meal etc). Let yourself have those and try to avoid smoking at other times. When you're comfortable just having those, pick the one you can do without the most easily and eliminate it. When you're comfortable with that, get rid of the next one. Lather rinse repeat. It took almost a year before I got rid of that "wake up" cig.

I quit under duress so it is hard for me to comment on someone who wants to quit just because...

I caught a cold..which turned into acute bronchitis but because I had no insurance I just toughed it out...there were times when I just walked to the bathroom when my lungs felt like they were about the size of a dime and I could not catch my breath..lucky for me my friend (unlucky for my friend) she had oxygen so I was able to share her oxygen..were it not for that I would have had to go to the hospital.

I quit for a month..but succumbed to temptation and started smoking again with a vengeance..smoking more than I did before, as if to punish myself for even THINKING about quitting..

Fast forward to my second bout of bronchitis and my only savior was ecigs...been smoke free since..oops..no once I did not have juice and smoked one and 1/2 cigs...till a GREAT PERSON ON THIS ROOM brought me juice to my door step!!!!!!!!!!!!

Between vaping and this support room you can do what ever you choose...

Don't force it Gena, give yourself the time you need to get there. A gentle nudge can help you move ahead, but forcing the issue is IMO counterproductive. There are people who still have a smoke or two after years of vaping. Keep at it, relax about it all and count the smokes you didn't have rather than the ones you did.

Like the others have said, up the nicotine. What's happening to you has happened to a lot of us.

It took me months to get of the cigarettes. I was an ultra-light cigarette smoker and was using 18mg. Went up to 24mg. One day soon after that I realized it was 4pm and I hadn’t had a smoke. That’s when I quit, don’t even remember my last cigarette. That wouldn’t have happened without the 24mg. Continued on with the 24mg for a while and then one day, rather abruptly, it was too much and dropped to 18.

It might help if you got a good cigalike that you were comfortable with. Then it would be like switching brands. Once you stay off the ashtray taste for a few weeks, you might find the cigalike preferable to the regular cig; I smoked a few cigs for the first couple of weeks but once the regular cigs ran out I just didnt buy anymore.

Nothing is "wrong" with you. My first e-cig kit only had 1 working battery so I used it till the batt went dead and while it was charging I smoked analogs. I used both for several months until I had a good supply of spare attys & batts and I kept an "emergency" carton of analogs on hand for at least a year. (just in case). Don't put unnecessary pressure on yourself. Stress will only make you want to smoke more.

Several others have already suggested it but you might want to keep a journal of your smoking and identify the times/situations that make you want a smoke the most. Then work on changing your routine at those particular times.

Put the cigs (lighters, ashtrays, etc.) in an inconvenient location while keeping your vaping supplies within easy reach. Make it easy to vape and difficult to smoke.

Good wishes for your continuing improvement.

Remember Vapeing is an Alternative not a cessation product. So it may take some time, I've read here that there are several Vapers that still smoke a few analogs even after several years, so it's all good.

No pressure, just stick with it. Every cigarette u don't smoke is a wonderful achievment just the same.

Thanks you'll I feel better just knowing I'm not the only one. I have found my favorite juices and the MVP is my favorite device so far. I hope to get the VTR soon and try a little harder. I think I need to start to take notes like some of you'll suggested and get a better plan. Once again thanks!
Put quitting the cigarettes out of your mind and focus on trying to enjoy your vaping more. If you want a cigarette, go have a cigarette. It's not that big a deal in the grand scheme.

You're probably just so worried and hung up about giving them up that it's sabotaging your own success. I know it was my own fear that kept me from moving forward. Don't let it.

You're really fine. I promise. :)
