I change it up mostly. I like 100% VG juice at times... I think most people would say 70/30 PG/VG.

If you're starting out, see if PG doesn't give you problems (allergy) before you go crazy buying juice. Perhaps start with a 50/50 blend. I just like thicker juice for some reason, but thinner juice works better in most situations and less fiddly. PG carries more flavor and throat hit and VG gives more vapor production and is smoother.

Some places just do what they think is the best mix and we come back to the 70/30 PG/VG once again. Some swear by the 50/50 as the best of both worlds. Higher nic equals higher throat hit for sure.

My standard is a 80Pg / 20 VG -18 Nic which is PG based. I use from 5% to 30 which are mostly PG based flavorings and since I most often make a batch of base and then add flavorings the fact is the PG % goes up and the Nic level goes down.

At the moment I am vaping :

.7ml VG 58%
.3 ml Flavor West Strawberry 25%
.2 ml Flavor West Sweet Cream 16.6%
0 Nic

Compared to my norm this has major clouds of vape which is typical of a high VG and is also sweeter and milder tast which is also typical of a higher VG blend. Zero throat hit which is also typical of no Nic and reduced PG. This is not a bad vape at all and if I had to I believe with 6 mg Nic added I could use it as a all day vape.

The great thing about DIY juice is that it is easy, fast and cheap to try different blends / ratios.

My last two juices are 50/50, which are working well for me. I went to the 50/50 because on the selection menu, it said it was the most requested. Before that I was using a 80/20 blend. I'm liking the 50/50 juices better, but I think it has more to do with the flavors I bought then the blend, and also that I'm vaping them with my new Provari, rather then an ego style battery. But I am really, really, enjoying vaping AlienVapor Super Skunk and MtBakerVapor Virginia Fired Tobacco, both 50/50 blend, using a Protank II & Protank original, On my Provai V2.5. Very, Very happy in vape heaven now.

Because I'm new I'm all over the map on this one....

Hi Kat, do you know if "PG" bothers you ? that would be my first quest--get a small bottle of all or mostly PG
and make sure you can tolerate it. Then as you can see from all the posts, ratio is all over the map
depends on vendor, flavor, nic strength

base line seems agreed : PG = TH & Flavor / VG = clouds of vapor / gum up your atomizer

once you know about PG, you'll just have to see what suits you...

good luck

I realize you are talking about DIY juice and I am only a week into the Vaping (LOVING it, BTW) and I have been buying pre-made and not sure if I want to do DIY just yet. But my question (related to my buying of pre made) is this: if your 18 mic is "PG based" then wouldn't that mean that the "total nic" in the vapor is actually less than if one's juice was 100% PG (my current juice, bought at a B&M --brick&mortar-- is 60/40). I wonder if they "compensate" for this if their nic is PG or ...what? Reason I ask is I'm currently wondering if I am getting enough nic at 24! but you know I am just starting, and actually no longer real interested in the "stinky"s.
