Doesn't matter what wire gauge I use. I like around 1.5 ohms on a fresh bat or 8.9-9watts. When I wrap, if I have thick wire, I use a screw driver to make the coils, scrunch them against the handle, then slip my wick in. If I have thinner wire, which i usually do, I fingernail one tail of the wire, wrap it around a folded pieces of wick, and then i pull the tails to tighten, scrunch each coil closer together 1 by 1 with a flathead, sometimes I flatten them down so they look like a particle wave, and repeat all steps until I've got a good coil. Once you pull the tails through the posts it doesn't really matter how tight or lose they are. I still adjust a few more times. For wicks, I use cotton for everything now. For mesh, I oxidize thoroughly.:vapor:

Lately, I've been wrapping around the tip of needle nose pliers, then flattening the sides a little more for an oblong funnel type shape. I use two wires of 32 ga kanthal wrapped side by side to 1.5 ohms. Sounds weird but it's just as easy as wrapping on a drill bit and seems to work marginally better.

Dream 804 tanks, 1.5 ohms, brass mech or yj vv, vapor about like a good drag on a cig. Not clouds by any means but exactly what I want and ended my search for anything better. :vapor:

I typically wrap around blunt tip needles. Mainly 17 ga. needle with either 27 ga Kanthal A1 or 30 ga Kanthal A1. These will produce true micro coils. Once the coil is built and resistance checked, I put a rolled cotton wick in and trim it just outside the coil ends.
The resulting builds look like this:

About 2 weeks ago I started running these micro tornados with 27 ga. I like the way they vape :)

AW Yeeaaaahhh. Cuz' you need to see it 3 times for it to really sink in. Dayum.
Thats SuperXDrifter. They say he was banned from the Swedish Stockohm Open for illegally tri-coiling his Reogrand. He's been boosting circuits and selling them on the black market ever since. They say he's the best Micro coiler in the US.

For my AGA-T: Wash SS mesh with dish soap to get rid of manufacturing oil. Make a wick thick enough to just slide into a drilled out 3 mm hole, as solid as possible. Flame 27 gauge Kanthal with a lighter. Drill bit wrap the coil on the AGA and screw it down. Insert the wick into the coil all the way to the bottom of the tank. Cut the top of the wick. Pulse the power until shorts are gone. Cool down the wick and AGA-T between series of pulses with water bath and use paper towel to dry.

Enjoy a great vape.

I've been using micro coils with cotton in all of my devices except one... mesh in a DID. I've been using the same mesh wick for months. I change the coil every couple weeks or so with dry burns in between. I wrap the coil (28g) directly on the mesh (to ensure even contact) slip a long pin through it and then install it in the DID. I shoot for ....8Ω and use it on my Roller.

For everything else..Kayfun, gp spheroid, other DID and RSST, I wrap 30g around a 1/16 drill bit, smush the coils together, install it, test it, thread rolled cotton through it, saturate it and fill the tank. For coils that are to be used with cotton wicks, I aim for around 1.5ish Ω and use them on Provari's.

Back when I hand wrapped silica, when it came time to change the wick, I had to wrap a new coil. But with micro coils and cotton, when the wick needs changing or the coil gets gunked up, I just slide out the wick, dry burn the gunk off and slide in another cotton wick. No need to wrap another coil weekly. Plus cotton is dirt cheap... a bag of cotton balls will last a lifetime. For me, a sheet of $5 ss mesh will last... well, I can't foresee buying any more mesh any time soon, if ever again.

Micro coils and cotton have been a complete game changer for me :D
