I'm using 2 brand new sony 18650 1600mah batteries. They were both being used for sub ohm and standard ohm coils. I pulled a brand new 18650 off the charger and put it on a 2.12 ohm iclear30 and all of a sudden i felt the mod button on my k101 get really warm. I took the battery out and let it sit. It's not venting or anything. I put it back in and its not firing at all? I just started using these batteries on christmas day. what the hell?
What just happened to my battery?!? please help

Are they protected batteries? If so, you could have had a short and tripped the internal fuse board. If they aren't protected, and you had a short, under the endcap, there is a built in mechanical fuse. Sometimes they pop quick enough to keep them from venting, sometimes not.
If they are the High Drain 30amp batteries, then I dunno. Someone with more experience will pop in soon I'm sure.

Did the battery get warm or hot to touch at any time?
Does your mod have a collapsable hot spring? If so, is it collapsed?
Were you using a mod fuse?
What is the voltage of the battery now?

i dont have a multimeter just one of those atomizer resistance calculators. The battery wont even charge when i put it on the charger. i put my other battery in the mod and it's working.
and yes the battery did get warm. and so did the bottom button on my k101. Everything seems to be fine now. Just that battery will not do anything. i dont know how there could have been a short. It was a packaged i clear 30 that i just put on a few days ago
sorry and yes they are also the highdrain batteries. I'm not sure if they are imr or protected. I tried researching. I just heard they were one of the "safest" for sub ohm vaping. There goes that theory...
What do you use to charge with? If you are running sub ohm coils with that setup, the battery is getting a workout for sure. If you are using a cheap charger, you could be over charging the batteries. This can lead to very short life with Lithium Ion Batteries.
You really should have a digital multimeter for monitoring your batteries. If the battery is protected, the charger should reset the protection circuit.
okay now i just put the good one in there and felt the other battery get INSTANTLY hot. i feel like that one just blew too. DAMMITTT haha this is ridiculous
Also, if you over discharge those batteries, it can kill them too. You should never let one get below 3.0volts.

wow i'm dumb. theres definitely a short in my iclear. it wont even vape on my ego battery.
I dont get it though. Why would there be a short in my innokin i clear 30? it was vaping just fine. the atomizer is inside the tank?!?
wait nevermind. now its vaping on my ego battery... I'm so confused. -_- but i'm pretty sure both of my sonys are dead.
when i bought my ohm reader it says it checks voltage too. but none of my 510 connections will thread to it. figures. i'm using a nightcore i2 charger
Just because you made a mistake because of something you didn't know does not make you dumb. Experience through mistakes my friend. At least you still have your mod. It could have 'sploded...
so since the second battery still fired after on my evod but then it also shorted out on my iclear would you say it was definitely the iclear and not the mod? and also my charger is not responding to the batteries at all.
Really wish you had a multimeter. You could check the resistance of your mod, your head, and voltage on your battery. You would know a definite answer to your question then.
ETA: Sounds like your head... Have you changed the coil? Seems like your box would have told you that you had a 0.0 Ohm load if it were shorted out...

i guess i'm just trying to come down to the source of the problem so i know... I mean christmas was only 3 days ago.. I've only had about 3 sub ohm sessions and not doing it for hours either. Id say 5-10 minute sessions. I wouldnt even run the battery down alot. I'm just confused as to why they would short out and not work after using them on the iclear30 because the i clear still worked on my ego. it did have a low voltage setting on the ego. but wasnt firing for the first couple pulls. but it works now. I'm just back to my evod and ego battery again afraid of explosions -_-
