...from smoking on those days you really want an analog?

For me, it's the fact that my friend didn't believe me when I said I really quit cigarettes for good this time, so I pinky promised him that if I ever smoked another one, I'd cut my tongue out. And we all know pinky promises are the most solemn vows between friends ever, right? (haha...I'm such a little kid...,but seriously I never break a pinky promise) Not to mention, not being able to talk would be like the worst punishment for me ever X_X

Nothing.

I never got into this to quit, per se. The idea (to the extent there was one) was to bend in the wind without breaking--i.e., to relieve myself the burden of defying anti-smoking nazism, while still blowing smoke in its face.

I kept, still have the last two packs of the last carton I bought, one in my car, the other in plain view on my kitchen counter. If I really want one, I have one. At the rate I'm going, I might have to buy another pack in 2012 or so.

Well, up until about 5 weeks ago, I was still doing both... mostly vaping, but still smoking maybe a pack a week, but i think that was mostly because i was only vaping 4-8MG strength... I went up to 18-24MG and haven't touched an analog since. I still from time to time find myself wanting an analog, but one of the main things keeping me from actually going and buying some, is that they are doing construction on the road to the closest convenience store I go to(widening the road) and I don't feel like going through the hassle of dealing with the construction and such..

I think my biggest test of will, will be closer to christmas when I go visit my friends in georgia, since two of them smoke and smoke quite a bit... I think I can handle it though! I don't think i want to go back to doing all the coughing and such I was doing when i smoked analogs all the time, as there are some days i do not even cough once anymore...i enjoy that too much.

For me it's 2 things, watching my Mom and Hubby go through hell with heart and lung problems and because I know I have an addictive personality, One cigarrette would push me over the edge..I just refuse to have that one!
Thank God I never wanted drugs or got into drinking very much! Husbands, Blue Willow and V4L are bad enough!

I agree with the above poster in that I never got into vaping to quit smoking. It just sort of happened.

When I was discussing vaping with a fella in a bar the other day, it really boils down to the fact that I love to smoke...but being married to a non-smoker, and the restrictions put into place, this is just easier.

Also, the ability to vape tobacco flavors one minute and organic LEMONADE or KEY LIME PIE the next? Who's crazy?

I mean, not only does this product change lives, it's FUN too, and I just don't understand why everyone with a PV doesn't have a permanent smile on their face for how awesome vaping truly is.

Hey Candygirl,

I just don't want to be smoker anymore and after 2+ months it's still a challenge. I still have days where out of the blue I really really want a cigarette...I mean severe jonesing. But I just think to myself I have made it this long and survived every craving and just like the dozens of cravings I have had before, whatever current craving I'm having will pass. Semi-retired at 46, I have it all, a loving wife and 3 great kids, 28, 16, & 13 and I realize that being a Grandpa is right around the corner for me. I want to enjoy every moment with my wife, kids, and grandkids. I have abused my body partying in my younger days in more ways than I would care to mention and am lucky to still be in great shape and health. So instead of pushing my luck any further, this year I've decided that I will be kind to my body till they bury me.

I love smoking, I love everything about it.....but I can say that about a lot of stuff that over the years I've put in the list of "The things I used to do". As Born mentioned, this new alternative is something I did not know existed 3 months ago and makes the process much easier, fun, and enjoyable.

Always good to see ya around Candy!

I'm the same way. When I want one, I have one. I never meant to quit and I prefer vaping but when I feel like a smoke, I do it. I've gone from two packs a day to maybe one analog a day. My health is better for it. I'm not sure I'll always do this but for now it works for me.

For me i got into vaping not to quit, i loved to smoke, but after 2 days I realized I liked vaping much more than smoking. Vaping taste better, much less messy, and it doesn't annoy non-smokers. I love that i don't have to deal with lighters, ashtrays and second hand smoke.Big plus is my house, cars, clothes and my breath don't reek of cig smoke :)

good for you candy - i know for a fact that i would probably still be smoking if i didn't stumble accidently on the e-cig forum. i wanted to quit so badly, but i didn't have the will power to do it on my own. i'm so grateful for the person who came up with this idea, he's my hero.. i also live with a non-smoker and he's been on me for yrs to quit, so i decided to try V4L and it was and still is the best investment that i made in my life and for my life...

I love to smoke but for me the issue is simple; I can't smoke the new cigarettes. Smoking FSCs makes me feel like I have the flu. Then I found vaping. Vaping is everything about smoking that I enjoyed and more. Now I love vaping. No worries and no regrets. It doesn't even bother me to be around people smoking cigarettes cause vaping's better! (I still love the smell of cigarette smoke though, lol)

I read the comments people leave to CNN and MSNBC articles on smoking and realize I don’t want to be one of those smelly, stupid people they’re writing about… those posters can really bring down a smokers self-esteem. I also go to places where there are longtime smokers and listen to the juicy smokers cough. I don’t want to be that smelly person with the juicy cough… I want to smell like blueberries and watermelon and sound like an angel. :)

I just managed to break 4 days without a single analog, before that I was anywhere between 1 and 10 per day. Two things finally helped me to get through all the cravings that I still have. One is the memory of my father during his last days before he died from esophageal cancer. I use that to remind myself that with the family history of cancer in my family I'm more than likely to end up dying like my father did, and I definitely don't want that. The other thing is finding my "go to" vape. For me, if I pop on a Peppermint carto and vape as much as I need to I can get past just about any craving I have.

Congrats on the 4 days!
Another thing that keeps me going is my grandmother's death from emphysema. She could have lived longer on a respirator, but she decided that that was no way to live and asked to be taken off of it. She then spent the next 7 hours slowly suffocating in the hospital bed before passing. This happened when I was around 11, and it was quite traumatic at the time for me. I swore that I'd never touch a cigarette, but on my 18th birthday, a friend had Djarum Blacks. I was curious and tried them and started smoking, ignoring the vow I'd made years before and pushing the memories of my grandmother to the back of my mind.
Once I bought my V4L kit and had been using it for about a week, I realized I didn't even want the rest of the Camel 9's I was still hanging on to, and it was time to quit for real. I originally was going to just give them to a friend who smoked, but I decided I shouldn't help anyone else acquire such awful things, so I tossed them in the trash.
I then said a prayer to my grandmother apologizing for having broken my original promise to never smoke and told her from that day on, I would never touch one again, and I'd do my best to spread the word about e-cigs and do whatever I could to help fight the ban.
That was the same day I made the pinky promise to my friend. The only reason I wrote in my original post that that was what kept me from analogs is because it was an actual physical promise to a person who was alive, and it has a really bad physical consequence. Sometimes the prayer and the memories of my grandmother are so surreal, it just helps to remember that physical promise I made to my friend.

Same to you! :)

Same here! I tried several times, but I always went back because of the image (I used to say, "Whoever said, 'smoking doesn't make you look cool' is a ....ing liar."), the anxiety relief (both nicotine and the "security blanket" of having the hand to mouth motion), etc. I bought the V4L XL because it looked even cooler (colors, LED light "It's like a raver cigarette!", the fact that I could "smoke" inside), and I wound up able to quit without intending to.

I am lucky! I honestly have no urge to smoke, ever! I was going to finish up all the cigs I had while getting used to vaping, and was smoking maybe 4-5 a day. Then after 2 weeks of this, and with 2 full packs remaining, I realized I was making myself smoke the cigs when I really didn't even want them. So got rid of the 2 packs and vaped from there on out. Don't miss it a bit, because to me vaping is just better in all ways. It totally satisfys me and I feel better, I smell better, and it just tastes better! No messy ashtrays, no lighters or matches all over. I really feel like I am having my cake and eating it too!

1 year and still going strong - and for the first time I don't even WANT a cig! :)
