Nice irony from youtube. I clicked on a PBusardo video and this was the lead-in "ad."
.
And as smokers convert, the tax man cometh for us.
Good stuff Ocelot![]()
This thread prompted me to look for a short story I read it the New Yorker in the 1980s. I can't believe I remembered enough to track it down. I had no idea it was written by Garrison Keillor.
"The last cigarette smokers in America were located in a box canyon south of Donner Pass in the High Sierra by 2 federal tobacco agents in a helicopter who spotted little smoke puffs just before noon. The district chief called in the ground team & 6 men, members of a crack anti-smoking joggers unit, moved across the terrain, surrounding & subduing them with tear gas. There were 5 people in their mid-40's who'd been on the run since the adoption of the 28th Amendment..."QUOTE]
That is so great Ocelot.....I just printed this and gave it to my roommate couple who still smoke and give me crap about my obcessive vaping.......said to them....
"Smoking is dead, vaping is the future, and the future is now"..(if I can paraphrase Rip Tripper)...lol
Poor planning on their part. Tobacco won't grow at those altitudes and California's gun laws are entirely too restrictive. The last cigarette smokers in America were located in a box canyon south of Donner Pass
My oldest had been nagging me to quit smoking for the longest. The last nag time, my response was I was supporting thru the federal taxes I paid on each pack the new insurance program for the CHILDREN. She looked stunned and never more nagged me again. Think she researched the taxes paid on cigs and where it went. Also, think she was "conflicted."
