Hi guys :) I'm new to the forum. I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I've been smoking menthol cigarettes for about 1.5 years now and I really want to quit, but I find it so tough as I'm kind of addicted and habituated to the action of smoking. So I'm thinking of switching to an e-cig instead.

What kind of e-cig would allow me to adjust the nicotine level so I can decrease it a little by little? I'd also prefer to add some flavour to it as I don't really fancy the normal taste of cigarettes :/ My aim is to eventually cut out all the nicotine and go purely on the flavoured vapour.

Would appreciate it if someone could enlighten me or point me to a thread with the same topic :) And sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place/thread/etc.!

Hi @cherrycharity , you're in the right place. I'd recommend the iStick 30 watt mod - $30 to $35 (battery) and the Aspire Nautilus Mini tank $20 to $25 (clearomizer). You'd also need a pack of coils $10. Then the only other issue is juice and I'd recommend a trip to a local vape shop to sample the flavors. The Nautilus was my game changer in vape from cigs, and the iStick 30 watt is powerful enough should you decide to grow from this type of personal vape.
Your starting nic level will be determined by how many you smoke a day and at what strength. I was a 2 pack a day smoker of lights and started at 12 mg. Once you figure out the vape, getting off the cigs is easy. I've even dropped my nic level to almost zero in 5 months. You can do it!

Welcome to ECF CC, make yourself right at home :)
It's not the PV (e-cig) you choose that will determine your nicotine level, that would be the liquid you choose. Best bet would be to start off with small bottles so you can level down as quickly as you wish :)

Hi Daleron! Thank you for your reply :) I've seen some e-cigs and it seems some are with tanks and some are without. So if I want to have those with flavours and adjustable nicotine, I should get the ones with tanks? :)

Here's a link to give you a little more information about personal vaporizers. I refuse to call them e-cigs because they arent any type of cigarette. :)

The link is a bit dated, but it gives you a basic understanding of PV's and APV's.

I'd recommend that you read the New Member information sub forum to learn more about vaping and the best practices.

And @Sir2fyablyNutz is correct, that would be a great beginner set up for you.

True some will come with a tank and some batteries won't ... however, those tanks will be empty and you'll need to learn to fill them with your own liquid ;)

I'd recommend 6mg, possibly 3mg. If you start at 6mg and it's a little strong, you can buy the same juice flavor in a zero and combine the two equally and end up with 3mg vape. I see the Marlboro ice blast is only available in Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong. You might be looking to buy any vape gear from FastTech - Gadgets and Electronics

Thank you! Very useful tip there :) ooh yeah, I'm from singapore. Actually, these are entirely banned here :( can't have them imported either. But I'll be living in France for quite a long while soon, so I'm preparing myself with info so I can get right down to it when I get there hehe :p thanks again! ^_^

At your smoking level, and assuming you go for the iStick/subtank combo, I'd suggest 6% or 6mg/ml nicotine in your juice. I'd go with the 1.2 ohm coils in the Subtank-- the .5s will be a bit strong for you, I think-- and set the wattage on the iStick to about 10 to start, adjusting it up and down as desired for more or less vapor. Less than half a pack a day is a light smoker, 6mg nic might be strong for you. I suggest it to make sure you get enough; you will find it hard to quit if you aren't getting your nic. It's also not easy to buy at less than 6 but greater than zero without ordering custom. Many vape shops have set-ups so you can try different flavors and find one you like. I suggest you do that once you buy your rig. Then buy a bottle of 6 and a bottle of 0. Mix them together, if 6 is too strong, and you'll have double the amount of 3. Or two bottles of 6 and one of 0 to make 4.5, and so forth.

Welcome to the board, and good luck getting off the killer sticks.

Simplest suggestion is to buy an Innokin itastevv3 or 4 "starter kit." It will come with everything you need except extra coils. You'll get six tanks with it, so you can try different flavors and nicotine strengths. Widely available. I like it so much that a year and a half since I switched, I still use it. Perfect size, fits easily in your purse, doesn't roll off a table.
When you look for juice, you need to pick levels of PG and VG...the safest is a 50/50 mix. Some people have allergic reactions to too much of one or the other, so I recommend that you only buy from places that offer that. Cheapest decent place is Mt. Baker Vapor (not sure they ship overseas). I like Ahlusion juices, which cost more, but I know they don't ship overseas.

I agree about the iTaste vv3. I bought the very affordable starter kit as a backup to my iStick 30w with Nautilus tank, and I find myself using it just as often. I did upgrade the tank to an Aspire K1, but the tanks that come with the kit really aren't half bad.

    i am in singapore
Check out this forum: SG Vapers. Make sure you read all the "stickies" as there are special rules you must follow due to the sensitivity of "vaping in SG. You won't be able to ask where to buy hardware/juice in SG as your government reads -ECF forum posts. It's all explained in one of the "Newbe Q&A" stickies.
