There are no metal carts

Cartridges aka carts are plastic are push over or into the atomizer of a 3-piece ecig. But carts are annoying - they need juice added very often and they can dump the juice in your mouth. And atomizers can die and need to be kept clean. The most popular 3-piece ecigs also have blank cartomizers available at hardware vendors and then you can use them as a 2-piece.

Cartomizers aka cartos are preferred by most people over carts, and they are mostly metal and screw right on the battery. A cart can be reused over and over and cleaned and restuffed used more. Good ecig models have many types of blank cartomizers available from many vendors.

510 and KR808D-1 are the two most supported models for cartomizers. 510 is most supported but there are few prefilled cartos. KR808D-1 (which is also Vapor4Life.com) has more prefilled ones but still plenty of blank types. Cartomziers have limited lives and are considered disposable. A cartomizer, if kept damp with juice, may last from 4-14 days depending on the type of carto and how heavily it is used. Some people are successful with washing, drying and getting more use out of a carto after that but don't count on it.

And I strongly recommend you get manual batteries. Both 510 and KR808D-1 are available with manual batteries. Autos are more likely to be killed with juice leaks and autos can accidentally turn on from wind or vibration. Manuals give you better control of your hit.

I've never seen a metal cart.

Metal cartos and metal drip tips, but never a metal catridge.

Cartomizers, cartos, are metal for the same reason atomizer are metal. For drip tips it is just for fashion or durability.

Could you link me to a metal cartridge? I'd really like to see one. (As it cut it open and see how they did it.)

Thank you Dormouse and Hoosier :D I appreciate the information!

I have two e-cigs right now. One is a Blu ( i know, i know, i ordered it before i found the forum) the other is a "21st century smoke" ( yep, gas station rechargeable i bought while waiting for the blu...again, i know, junk)

The blu has cartomizers, and i like it well enough, except the draw is like trying to suck a baseball through a straw.
The 21st cent is a 3-pc, good draw, I'm playing with e-liquids to find one i like better. It has plastic cartridges, and they feel chinsy and cheap. But if plastic is what they're usually made from, I'll stick with this one for a little while.

Hello and welcome to ecf....I too started with Blu and Safecig.....Can't knock them too bad....they did start me on ecigs but I was already on the internet looking for something better the 2nd day, lol. I was determined not to smoke analogs. so I hung in there until I got (at that time) my new 510 kit....I have since upgraded several times, but since the first ecig, I have never picked up another analog....
Congrats on your success
happy vaping.

got my 510, and i'm loving it! found out that the 510 atty will fit the blu battery, and vice versa. don't know what good that information does, but there it is, lol

Also found that johnson creek tropical tastes like a pina colada ( kind of) and liberty flights "mango" vg is light and nice. and their vg blueberry ROCKS!
