On many atties you need to clear primer fluid first, which tastes like gaack. Blow through them from the connector end, tissue held over the mouth end. Then try a burn with just a little plain VG or PG, to clear any final residue.

You should be good to go. When testing a new flavor, typically around 4 drops onto the top of the atty, may go to 6. Repeat the plain PG or VG to clear it before trying another blend.

I use a pretty cheap, simple, generic atty for testing, the only thing I'm careful about is that its resistance is the same as my cartos. If I've done multiple flavors, at the end I'll rinse under cold water, then a bit of PG or VG and a short burn, then put it away until next time.

I mix test batches in 6ml bottles, so I usually drip a couple drops out onto the paper plate I use to mix on to make sure I get any flavoring out of the dropper (we use those Dixie heavy duty plates and they're deep enough to hold a 100ml spill, but I digress) and then drip *one* drop onto a debridged 306 atty directly onto the coil. That's usually good for 4-5 hits and I usually don't have to clean the atty afterward.

Once the mix passes the drip test I put the test batch in a tank - I make ghetto tanks out of those same 6ml plastic bottles so tanks is cheap and will vape it during the week, which also lets the stuff steep a bit while I'm sampling it. I have been known to add flavoring and/or 25mg unflavored directly to the tank if the recipe needs tweaking and I keep good notes in a spreadsheet.

If it's still worth keeping at the end of the week I'll make up a 30- or 50ml batch - or not. A lot of stuff I do I make up 5ml at a time and it may stay in a tank for months - I've got a tank filled with watermelon that's probably got 2ml left in it and I've had it for about five months. I don't vape it very often but it's a nice change once in awhile.

YMMV, but that's the way I sample mixes.
