What mod to replace dse-905? I have decided to quit analogs for good. I like my dse -905 but wish it felt more solid and gave more vape.
I have been smoking for 13 years and have decided that when I wake up tommorow I am done. I can't do utter anymore. I don't like rhetorically taste...the smell...nothing.
I have looked at the chuck and utter u like utter but is there anything better? Please don't suggest anything with a smaller battery. I have been there tried that and would rather carry a mag light sized device than deal with wimpy batteries again.

Budget?

Are you simply wanting something functional and cheap...a collector's work of art...a techno-marvel in vaping, or possibly all of these above?

Do check this site out, it gives some idea of things out there to consider:

As for my current choice: The Darwin
I'm very happy with it.

Since I picked up my Provari...I've almost completely disappeared from the ECF...I believe that this unit is the end of my search...and I've been searching since 2008! I've spend tens of thousands of dollars in this hobby (I was an ex-supplier)...and I have to say...it was the best $250 (warranty, ext cap, extra batteries...etc) that I've spent. I also heard that the Darwin is a great unit...I just couldn't stand the look of it. The Eclipse looks to be a great mod, but im a carto guy and I've done my fair share of dripping and bottom feeding...It just doesn't do it for me. My vaping sweet spot is, the Provari, a 18650 battery, dialed in at 4.2v and a Boge 2ohm carto filled with 24mg juice = Vaping Bliss in my opinion! But if you want an affordable all day vape...pick up a couple of 1000-1100mah Ego batteries (or Ego-t for the 5 click on/off) and they will last you pretty much all day, even at LR.

Sounds like you haven't tried anything over 3.7 Volts yet. Higher voltage will help with quitting. I like the GLV 5V from Great Lakes Vapor. Hits more like a cig than your 905.
My favorite so far though is my Buzz. It's an adjustable voltage mod that's about as sturdy as they come and only costs $100.00, $120.00 with batts and charger. It's available from NotCigs. Mine has been trouble free for over 5 months.

Budget...whatever it takes.

I'm looking for something rock solid and reliable. I would prefer that there were no electronics in it, and that if need be I could repair it. Something that can run at multiple voltages with a battery swap, but the variable voltage moss don't apeals to me because I see it as more to go wrong. It doesn't need to be hand made or a work of art, but I am certainly not against either of those.

The provari looks like engineering genius, but too complex for me. I don't think I could put my faith in something so complex. I tend to be hard on things I use daily, and the complexity of it scares me.
The ego? Maybe it would work for me, but I I think I would prefer something that takes a regular old battery. Something that gives me voltage options with a battery swap...something that takes cheaper batteries. I had a dse-901 and it didn't work out well for me because the batteries kept going bad. Waiting for the next order of batteries sent me back to analogs. It it takes batteries like the rcr123 I could have 10 spares sitting in a drawer waiting.

I definantly want to try higher voltage. After reading your post I NEED to try higher voltage.

Most of the 18650 tube mods will do what you want. 18650 for 3.7v, the 4 pack 1.2 NIMH cell batt for 5.0v, two 3.0v 123a batts for 6.0v, and two 3.7v 16340s for 7.4v.

I own both sizes of rough stack and my other tube mods are gathering dust or have already been given away/traded off. I'm currently vaping dual coil cartos at 5.0v with my maxi RS... much of my other gear isn't getting very much use any more.
