What nicotine level are you using?

Hello again all. Trying to get all my questions out before I buy my subox mini and juice tomorrow. Last one of the night. What nicotine levels do you guys use? Obviously it's preference to a degree and so is pg/vg ratios but rather than read the internet, I figured I would ask people who have been and are currently vaping the stuff on through the night. I have an ecto clearomizer ATM with 12mg nicotine hypnotic e juice from a local shop in the city(pretty sure they made it themselves). It doesn't tell me what percentage pg/vg it is and this will probably be the last time I buy local juice but I was curious what I should try. I am a pack a day smoker and hope to quit tomorrow. Right now I can puff for 45 minutes and get a LITTLE buzz(not enough). The throat burn is insane though. It never goes away and I mean I like the throat feel but this is too much. Cheap juice perhaps? Cheap e cig I'm using?( I mean I know its cheap and it was a gift but it has a new atomizer so is the e cig really causing the burn)...too much pg perhaps? What do you guys notice about a 50/50 mix vs 70pg and 30vg or even maxvg. Any info will help. Thanks!

I vape 0mg-3mg nic depending on my set-up. Sometimes 50/50 and sometimes 30/70 PG/VG.

Been vaping almost 9 years and so I don't crave nic like I use to.

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day:

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

But if you are using a subΩ or high wattage setup you will need to reduce you nicotine level by at least 50%.

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick.

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Some juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

If you're getting too much throat hit you could try a higher vg liquid. VG gives less throat hit than PG. The ecto clearomizer uses wicks hanging down from the top doesn't it? If it does I wouldn't go for VG any higher than 50/50 or you may get wicking issues and dry hits.

If 12mg is a little low for you right now I would try going to 18mg especially if you are going to fully stop smoking.

I use 4 to 8mg but in drippers which are much better at delivering nicotine. Any more in them would be too strong for me.

The ecto uses a bottom dual coil. It's a tiny little thing is all I know. Cheap I'm sure and hard to break into to find out. Tomorrow I will have a subox mini so really my concern was the juice I'll use for that and it will be sub ohm for sure. I guess I'll stay at 12 and see what that does with sub ohm and I'll probably do a 50/50 as I'm sure this locally made juice is high pg.

Ah I see. If you are going to be sub ohming then I wouldn't go higher than 12mg. sub ohm tanks are much more efficient at delivering nicotine. Also if you're using a sub ohm tank you will be able to use higher VG liquids as they have better wicking. 70/30 VG/PG or 80/20 VG/PG will work fine and will have less throat hit than higher PG liquids.

I'm 7 weeks into quitting the cigs and was smoking between 15-20 cigarettes a day. I'm using a TC setup with Kanger tanks and their RTA with a nickel build. My temp is set to 350f and 12-14joules. 6mg is my sweet spot I've found...tried 12mg but it was a bit much for me. I'm pretty much just .NET liquids with the odd sweet or fruity flavor for some variety...all my juices are 50/50.

My preference is 15/85 (PG/VG) with 12mg Nic levels. I find on a sub ohm setup that this works extremely well for me, the VG seems to counteract the higher nicotine levels for me and makes it vape rather smooth.

When I tried the same nic level on sub ohm with 50/50 it was just sort of harsh. However, I switch back and forth between 12mg and 6mg regularly since some juices that I like are max of 6mg nic levels but I don't really notice any difference when I switch, I don't feel like I'm craving nic when I use the 6mg and I don't get my head swimming when I use the 12mg.

It's been about 16 to 18 months since I've had a cigarette, I drink alcohol on a regular basis (that is to say I have a few vodka shots most nights) and the vaping still keeps me from craving tobacco (if I was still smoking, I'd smoke a pack in a matter of an hour or two when drinking, but I don't vape so much when drinking, just enough). The day before I last quit smoking cigarettes I believe I had smoked about 3 packs, and that was kind of an average for me, 1 to 4 packs a day of camel 99's I started off at about 18mg and quickly dropped it down to about 12 within the first week and it was all good. Any time I got a strong craving for a cigarette I would simply take about 10 really lung filled hits on my vape and then I'd be good again and the cravings would subside.

if you vape at 30 watts you're probably going to want to be using like 3 or 4mg strength.
